|2013 Lexus LS sedan|
At an in-person event in San Francisco last evening (and via Facebook and Twitter), Lexus officially unveiled the 2013 LS sedan. The brand’s flagship luxury sedan has stagnated in the past few model years as a resullt of growing competition from both premium and even more mainstream brands (aka the Hyundai Genesis sedan). Multiple refreshes have failed to consistently maintain the sales numbers from the model’s 1990's hay-days. Lexus hopes the 2013 LS will revive interest and boost sales - however, the LS is still one of the world's most isolating sedans - silky smooth ride and quiet as a tomb - and about as exciting to drive. Maybe the new "F" model LS will be more sporting. The LS is certainly very conservative looking in the above official Toyota/Lexus photo. It will do battle with the Audi A8, Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-series, the previously mentioned Genesis, and perhaps (in the next 2 years) the new Cadillac RWD Omega-platform flagship.
|2013 Nissan Pathfinder CUV|
Nissan has posted the first images of the production 2013 Pathfinder - in this age of social media, Nissan unveiled the Pathfinder on its Facebook page. The new Pathfinder design is very similar to the Pathfinder concept shown at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It will share the platform currently being used on the Infiniti JX, moving the Pathfinder squarely towards a car (crossover) platform for the first time in its history. It is also expected that the new Pathfinder will share the Infiniti JX’s 3.5L 265 Horsepower V6. Pricing and on sale date at dealerships has yet to be announced by Nissan, but the Pathfinder is expected to sticker at about $31000 USD, to keep it competitive with its archrivals, the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and the Chevy Traverse. The official Nissan photo is above.
