PC Gone Nuts - Swap Your Ginger For Six

Tue Jul 31, 2012 8:16 am

Quote:
An advertising campaign from a New Zealand company telling customers to swap their "ginger children" for ginger beer has been criticised on social media.

A media release from Hakanoa Handmade Ginger Beer yesterday gave "unfortunate" parents with red-haired children the opportunity to exchange them for ginger beer, starting today and running until the end of August.

Really silly, talk about a storm in a teacup.

Is this really worth getting peoples backs up over. I have two ginger kids, and a blond one, it doesn't worry me. What I don't get it that it's ok to take the piss out of blond's but for some reason people are far more sensitive about ginger kids!

Sorry but

It's obviously a joke and if people take it seriously then they're idiots.

We need more adverts like this one

Because blonds are less likely to realise you're taking the piss?

What the hell is this obsession with "ginger" as if it is a bad thing? It is the sexiest hair color there is.
Read this very carefully, I shall write this only once!

It's a British thing. I've heard people say "Prince Harry is so nice, too bad he's a ginger." For some reason red hair is not popular in the UK.

Oh that commercial is horrible, they need to think about hurting the feelings of people who have red hair and atone immediately for this indescretion!

Only in the same way that strong regional accents can be a source of amusement, or that anyone here in, to borrow the title of the 2012 Opening Ceremony, these Isles Of Wonder , with a strong rural accent is of course liable to 'worry sheep'.

He should come to the UK then, I heard somewhere that the highest number of them per population is here, not stereotypically Ireland, though a fair proportion might be in Scotland!

Sounds nearly as PC as the "hug a ginge day" which was organised on facebook and caused somewhat of an uproar..

I think it was actually "kick a ginger day" IIRC
Ironically I have never flown a Delta MD-90 :)

Unfortunately no... not that you can ever have enough gingers, anyway.

The term actually refers to letting your dog or any other animal chase or otherwise disturb someone else's flock of sheep, it's illegal.
However, coming from the Isles Of Innuendo it can used as a euphemism for.......unspeakable things!

Recently, a group of our apprentices did a charity trek up Mt Snowdon, I asked one of them how it went, she told me that 'some of the boys chased some sheep', after pointing out it's illegal we had a laugh when speculating how embarrassing it could be from them to have a conviction for 'Sheep Worrying' with all the deliberate 'misunderstanding' they'd be subjected to.

As for our friends down under, well an Aussie/Kiwi could always joke 'what do you call a sheep in Australia/New Zealand?
