Olympics:Romney's Horse Rafalca Take A Dive?

Tue Aug 07, 2012 6:04 pm

Conspiracy theorists unite!

Did Rafalca take a dive at the Olympics to keep the Horse out of the US news cycle?

"Rafalca received an individual score of 69.302, not enough to advance to the Grand Prix Freestyle on Thursday."

That's a little over a $1,000 tax deduction per point scored.

Romney is lucky the horse didn't do well, this has been fodder for late night, Colbert has certainly ridden Rafalca for all she's worth.

Hopefully they'll bring in more events for people to compete with their medical devices.

I seriously can't believe how poorly Romney seems to have planned his campaign considering he's been plotting it for years, seems like one political liability after the other. He could have cleaned up his tax situation in 2006 and then would be some way towards getting that off his shoulder, then his house(s). Gotta sacrifice if you want to win (read, only buy your wife one Cadillac)...not saying he won't be a decent prez but we all know that doesn't win elections.

So, are you saying income from horses (e.g. race prizes, stud fees, income from breeding, etc.) should not be taxed? After all, if you have a problem with the expenses associated with breeding a horse being deducted then you cannot possibly find it moral that the associated revenue gets taxed. Why should rich people who own horses get to make free, untaxed income? Are you in the 1%, by any chance?
Read this very carefully, I shall write this only once!

Why do you even care how Romney's wife's horse did in the Olympics? I think you'd sneer and laugh just the same if one of his daughters was a syncronysed swimmer. It seems really petty. He ran an Olympic games why is it surprising they would want to continue to be part of them?

I'm just pointing out that each point the horse earned equates to about a thousand dollars in tax breaks. Now, if the horse tried a little harder it would be less.

In fact, I think the Romneys should be commended for creating jobs for people overseas and horses here in America.

Of course it is petty. But when they cannot support Obama's record they have to resort to this.

OH, it it not "his". He claims ignorance and calls it "Ann's Sport" when asked about it.

Petty? perhaps - even pettier that he doesn't own up to up. How come hes cant say" Yes, dammit - its MY horse and she will make America proud!"

IN the same way that my wife enjoys gardening and I know nothing about it, so when someone asks about the garden or comments about how beautiful it is I give her the credit and tell them I had nothing to do with it because for fact, "I had nothing to do with it".

Why should I claim something that I am not involved in. Give the person who is actually doing it the credit.

Because you'd say the same thing even if he owned up to providing the financial support for his wife to co-own a horse that's in the Olympics. This is really just a way to paint him as an elitist.

Would Michele Obama be any prouder to be an American if Romney's wife's horse won a medal....I didn't think so.

This thread is just flamebait. They can't find legitimate reasons to bash Romney (which I find pretty funny as there are many) and they're going down this whole tax deduction road.

I have a strange feeling that if the positions were switched and this horse belonged to the President, the reactions of most on here would be flipped
Ironically I have never flown a Delta MD-90 :)
