Good for him. That must be a HUGE weight off his shoulders, since he's been the UK's golden boy since Tim Henman.

Interesting Open all around - Roddick and Clijsters play their last Grand Slam, Federer loses, Nadal doesn't play, Murray beats Djokovic....

Wish I got to watch more of it. But I say that after every Grand Slam....
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

Great for Murray, he deserved his slam. I feel bad for Djokovic though, he got really screwed by the organizers, having to play the day before while Murray gets a day's rest. Something like that really shouldn't happen.

He didn't get screwed by the organizers--he got screwed by the weather. It sucks, but short of putting a roof on Ashe (which apparently is cost prohibitive and the land itself at flushing meadows couldn't support the weight), there's not much they could do unless they decide to play both semis at the same time.

In a perfect World, no. Unfortunately, we live in a imperfect World where nature can intervene in outdoor sports events and you're trying to schedule a tounament of matches and you don't know how long each will last. Even tournaments played indoors can have scheduling issues when a match lasts much longer than expected.

I'm sure Djokovic will cry all the way to the bank.

You might argue it was Ferrer who was screwed. He was playing magnificently and had the 1st set on his pocket. The stoppage gave Nole time to recover his game.

It's a crappy stadium. Can't support a roof, it slowly sinks and creates random swirl winds. That's what you get when you go for BIGGEST and ignore everything else.

...which is exactly what they should have done. They knew they would have to suspend play and still went ahead with not playing them at the same time.

That's true as well, he was dealing with the random swirl winds a lot better than Nole.

Almost certainly dictated by the broadcasting rights. It's always about the money, never about the players or spectators.

Truly one of the best contests I've ever seen. Not, perhaps, in terms of the quality of the tennis, but certainly in view of the courage, perseverance, and plain old-fashioned 'endurance' shown by both players.
