Sun Sep 23, 2012 6:24 pm

Iranian President is in NYC to speak at the UN. Do any of the JFK area people know what airplane brought him into JFK? B-707? B-747SP?

I'm assuming it's the 74SP.

As much as we westerners dislike the guy, we love the planes he flies in

I'll be straight with all of you, a few of my Iranian friends say that the only people in that country who hate America are those in government, and the 5% of the country who agree with them.

This one girl in particular, an atheist, says she and her friends love this country so much that they have american music smuggled into the country regularly (after they purchase it from FYE lol)

I'm wondering how he refuels his aircraft once arriving in NYC since we can't do business with Iran? Same with landing fees. I suppose there is an exception for this type of activity?

The fact that you use the words ''hate'' and ''love'' say a lot about your view of the world. America is the center of the universe, the best country on earth, and everybody wants to be like it, everybody wants to go there and thinks of nothing else all day, except for those jealous, evil people who do the opposite and concern themselves with nothing else but hating on America.

(Un)fortunately, reality doesn't come in black and white.

It's the annual opening of the United Nations and the more interesting part of what's going to happen 20 blocks north of me is the Clinton Initiative which will be having speaking engagements by the new leaders of Egypt and Libya. I think that's really what people will probably more interested in than hearing Armadinnerjacket ramble on with his documented paranoia. And, for the record, I'm very aware America is not the center of the universe, as I'm the son of a British soldier (WWII) I'm also mindful however, that the US did save the free world 60 years ago.

So a little balance is good. And I'm glad the B747SP is at JFK and of course it will be refueled as this is purely diplomatic and appropriate. Trust and believe that us NY'ers treat everyone equally, even those we may disagree with! Hell, I'd even buy Governor Romney a bagel and schmear.

Wow, I thought I heard communication with an Iran Air flight on LiveATC.net in the wee hours last night on ROBER (125.7) Couldn't find it on FlightAware. Funny that shortly after the flight came through, ATC needed to go to a backup frequency because of interference ("mariachi music" per some of the feedback from the transmissions I heard).

What I heard was earlier than I thought. September 23 @ 03:05 GMT. Iran 805.

He's here to attend the UN General Assembly this week, and interestingly he also gets a full U.S. Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service protection detail who escort him everywhere.

Very true. I've talked to several Iranians, they were all cool people that did not like their government (and they said that's the general consensus.) But really, you'd be surprised at how educated and "western" they are.

I know you wouldn't, I was referring to the people that think Iranians lived in mud huts with bombs attached to them

In fact, they are one of the most secular Muslims I've talked with. Just like Americans that complain that their government doesn't necessarily represent who they are, the Iranian government is a far cry from average Iranians

None other than the usual speech you'd expect from him at this stage.

His comments regarding Israel, are, IMHO nothing more than retaliation rhetoric against Bibi's threats to bomb Iran.

Is it any wonder he's all stirred up.

He looks at Israel, as a new entity in the ME region which, in his country's opinion, should not be there.

Quote from SMH

"Iran has been around for the last seven, 10 thousand years. They (the Israelis) have been occupying those territories for the last 60 to 70 years, with the support and force of the Westerners. They have no roots there in history," he said, referring to the founding of the modern state of Israel in 1948.

I flew on many SPs but this one I find is really special. A real treasure of an airplane. I really want to go flying on it before it is too late. It may get turned into dust any time soon.

My friend Ali in Tehran sent me pictures of the inside including the flight deck form one of his latest flights to BKK. He is a geek. I guess I would turn into one if I went flying on board the machine.

I am sure Mr President was treated to Homa Class which he deserves as he is the President of that wonderous nation. He will be losing his job in May so let him enjoy the few luxuries he gets. He is a rather austere man.

This is his latest CNN interview.

Iran's president ranges far in interview: talks Israel, slams homosexuality

Exerpt:

Jews

When asked how he would feel if one of his children dated a Jew, Ahmadinejad replied, "I would have to see who that Jewish man or woman would be. I see love amongst people as completely acceptable. There are many Jews living in Iran with whom we are very close. There are ... some Muslims that marry into Jewish families or marry Christians."

"I -- we have no such problems," he added.

"Of course, I think none of us should represent the whole population of the United States, but we believe that color, religion, native tongue, ethnic background shouldn't create differences or distances between people, nor should it be the sole reason to bring people closer together. It has always been like this."

http://edition.cnn.com/2012/09/24/wo.../meast/iran-ahmadinejad-interview/

I want to hear his speech at the U.N. tomorrow.

I am too late to edit my previous post.

For those who want to follow the United Nations General Assembly live you can follow all the sessions and speeches on this link:

http://webtv.un.org/
click on "Live Now"

I find it really interesting listening to speeches from all world leaders of all nations bigger and smaller. Right now it is the President of Honduras. Previously there was Lithuania, France, Georgia and Indonesian Presidents. Most are delivering their speeches in English and a few in their native languages, concerns can be quite different for each speaking world leader. This is where you discover all the Presidents you never heard of or never see before.

I don't know why people pay attention to this troll. I really don't care what plane he flew in on, which luxurious hotel he gets to stay at, or the crock of BS he's trying to feed us this time around. All I see is a puppet of a corrupt theocracy, who spews the same old shit time and time again. If we, the international community, have any respect for the Iranian people, Jews, Christians, and anybody else that is persecuted by the Iranian government, we should take this diplomatic opportunity to collectively and publicly make the current Iranian regime aware that we see everything and intend to hold them to account. The UN is a forum of collective dialogue after all, not a 3 ring circus for the world's worst human rights abusers.

Maybe this is one of those "which came first, the nuke or the threat" things, but I guess I'm comfortable calling this one as Iran's issue first and foremost.

Quoting soon7x7 (Reply 35):
did anyone walk out on him today?

There weren't too many walkouts. Ahmadinejad went WAY over his allotted time though.

Overall it was a typical Ahmadinejad speech. He made some decent points near the beginning and near the end, but the bulk was all the usual hypocritical crap.

Ghana are coming next

I was very impressed by the President of Ghana's speech. I would have given a standing ovation if I were there.

Mohamed Morsy will be most interesting to hear. I wonder what he will come up with.

Then we will have the E.U. technocrats trio, Van Rompuy, Cameron and Monti. Di Rupo will come later tonight. He would fill in for the E.U. technocrats Quartet.

Looking at the Polish President, is this man the brother of the President who was killed in the airplane crash? I can't figure this one out.

Talking about goiing over their allotted time, I think Argentine President Cristina Kirchner beat them all by far and she talked without notes.... She kept talking, talking, talking, like she would fill in the whole session!!

Just a thought and an unrealistic one at that, but wouldn't it be a positive move next General Assembly to hold it at the "International Space Station"...perhaps the perspective of Earth might be contributory to profound change of heart and just for a few generations...everyone would chill...Just dreaming...

I am all for it but they would have to build one 10 times larger and how would you ferry all these leaders up there by Soyuz and back and who would pay for it? Just imagine the humongous cost!!!!

The Russian Space Agency would make heaps of profits from your idea!

1. Plenty of people agree with him.

Sure, the UN is chock full of the world's worst human rights abusers, holocaust deniers, dictators, and jihadists. But I geared that post toward those in the Western world.

2. Plenty of people like a useful idiot - a surrogate who can say what they are feeling about the US and Israel.

Spineless cowards with no balls to face the music, like those mentioned above.
No matter how random things may appear, there's always a plan.

Israel Prime Minister is heading to the UN to deliver his response to Iranian President Ahmadinejad's speech.

Netanyahu condemns those who stayed in hall to hear Iranian president; rebuffed by Obama, Israeli leader will meet Clinton, Ban, Ashton on whirlwind trip

Netanyahu said his own speech on Thursday would constitute “our response,” and also pledged to “use every possible means” to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Netanyahu’s speech, which aides said would contain “significant” content, might be tweaked until the last minute, officials told The Times of Israel. Netanyahu will be speaking shortly after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addresses the gathering.

Let's see if if he says Iran should be wiped off the map.

   Wow!

Yea yea, as long as Israel has a nuclear weapon they have no right to prevent Iran from having one.

This is true.

Quoting CaliAtenza (Reply 38):
who agrees with him, other than the extremists??

I find Morsi is much more extreme than Dr. A. Morsi is here to stay for a number of years while Dr. A. will be gone come May 2013 and back to his old Professoral job. Israel should worry more about their next door neighbour Egypt as Morsi also wants to have nuclear bombs.
