Man Chokes In Roach-eating Contest

Tue Nov 27, 2012 3:26 am

After reading the discussion of the conditions of kitchens preparing airline food, I was amused to stumble across this.

Florida man choked to death after downing dozens of live cockroaches during a contest earlier this year in which the grand prize was a python, an autopsy has concluded.

Edward Archbold, 32, of West Palm Beach died as a result of "asphyxia due to choking and aspiration of gastric contents", according to the report released by the Broward County medical examiner's office.

Lab tests for drugs came back negative. The death has been ruled an accident.

Archbold died after downing the bugs as well as worms in October for the contest at a reptile store north of Miami.

Archbold became ill shortly after the contest and collapsed in front of the store. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
About 30 contestants ate the insects, but authorities said none of the other contestants became ill.

Perhaps the airline caterers are simply meeting customer demand?

How to say this ............? Yes, I think everyone is aware of the fact there appears to be NO LIMIT to the number of different "kinds" of idiots who are so starved for attention that they do the most idiotic things to draw attention to themselves, such as eating cock roaches, making fools of themselves at national shrines, attempting to jump out of airplanes without parachutes, and trying to drive 100 MPH (the WRONG direction) on Interstate highways.

Perhaps Edward Archbold was hoping to win the python ( an idiot with a python ?) in order to abandon it with all of the other abandoned pythons in the Florida Everglades, so that it too could grow to become 30 feet long, and possibly make a meal of some "normal citizen's" little toddler ? ( of course, it's difficult to guess why idiots do the idiotic things they always do );

I would however disagree with the ME who ruled the death "accidental"; there was NOTHING "accidental" about it; no one forced Edward Archbold to eat cock roaches; ( or any of the other idiots involved ); they ALL ate the cock roaches for the same reason.............to draw attention to themselves.........to proclaim to the world......."look at me........I'm an idiot ! I'm eating cock roaches" ! ( and i don't think succumbing to eating cock roaches is much of an accident either ) ( I'm guessing that it's more like "a miracle" that the other idiots didn't die too ).

You might be a redneck if.........

I wonder what is more idiotic, eating cockroaches or eating cockroaches to win a python

The fact that the cockroaches fought back tells much about who is smarter.
