What Will Lance Say To Oprah?

Wed Jan 09, 2013 7:44 pm

I think he's going to come clean and admit to being a cheating scumbag. What do others think?

he' 'll come clean but be all emotional about it and claim he's sorry and start crying but cc claim he doesn't want sympathy. I think people should try and avoid watching it and show that he is not even worth the effort. he is a disgrace as a human and should never be forgiven.

Whatever he says will no doubt be too little, too late. He had a million chances to come clean in the past, and not only maintained innocence but aggressively and persistently asserted that he had been unfairly maligned.

I hope that he will only be allowed to compete again if he gives really detailed descriptions of all the cheating he was involved in.

On the other hand from what I've read coming clean would be quite dangerous for his wealth and even freedom, so I'm wondering if that's really what he'll do.

He's probably going to announce he is writing a book and all proceeds from the book will be going to whatever charity he is/was part of. Only after 1.5 million morons buy the trash he is selling will he go on David Letterman and admit he is a chronic liar and he only needed the money to stick something new in his arm. David will of course say, "That's OK Lance, why don't you come over to my house for tea and we'll see what we can do to get you elected. I'm great with liars."

Moo cow Oprah will be in the limelight again and this could be the springboard for her new venterOMG Oprah's Major Gabfest." or Oh My God, or Oh My Gracious. Oprah is a junky for the limelight and something tells me she wants back into the homes and minds of us sheeple five days a week. But this show will featured jacked up celebrities, politicians, f'd up rock stars, athletes etc. Look for LiLo, the Kartrashians, Justin Bieber finally coming out to the world with Oprah, even Larry King lassoing something with his suspenders and taking out his false teeth. Great TV moments in the making.

However while he cheated so did everyone else who lost to him, up to the next 70 guys cheated in some of those Tour De France's.

Here is a solution lets take the first clean guy with today's testing standards vs a clean Armstrong and see who wins a cycling race.

He cheated but is still the best there is in the cycling world.

How much of that was done off the back of his success that he gained by allegedly doping?

Reading more and more about him, having known nothing about him prior to this story blowing up, I can see from reports both contemporary to this story and reports predating this story considerably that his public face is little more than a thin facade which he uses, and the real person underneath is quite different in personality.

Hopefully we'll find out soon. But if the allegations that the majority of the competing cyclists were doping is true as well then I don't know why the spotlight is solely on Armstrong.

Over the years I've seen plenty of other riders and athletes under the spotlight for performance enhancing violations, so its far from just Armstrong being picked on, but the reason why Armstrong is in the spotlight now is because he's been dogged wi allegations for the past 20 years or so and the nature and extent of the violations are to such a degree that it's become quite a good deal.

A lot of the techniques he is alleged to use have been banned for a long time, but have been difficult to test for - hence after-the-fact reexamination of the tests done shedding new light on matters, which just goes to show that you might get away with things now, but better tests will always come along. The testers can improve their techniques at any point in the future, but the abuser cannot equally benefit from better techniques to hide past infractions because the blood has already been taken.

The fact that the allegations against Armstrong don't stop with him, but instead covers team members etc and many others, all designed to support him in events, and his success is why this is a big thing.

The others that doped and that he beat have all been caught and didn't lie as long as him. Also, he is not suspected of just doping but of being the provider for his team members, the famous "Postal train" that greatly helped him win all his titles. Other leaders may have doped as much as him but not necessarily their team members.

Furthermore he had the best techniques that existed. Besides, some "naturally gifted" riders may not benefit much from doping, while someone with less abilities will gain greatly, so you can't just say "they all doped so it's fine".

This is probably the best opinion of the thread so far. I suppose we 'care' to some micro-extent, else we wouldn't be posting here, but I think the desire to comment is probably driven more by outrage and/or irritation than any kind of real concern.

You may or may not be right. If you are then you are mostly right but I still think the outrage is over the top. We have politicians all over the world doing much worse things with our money and that actually affects us directly.

Although I do believe he is lying and he had been using performance enhancing drugs for a long time but it's still speculation at this stage.

I think that this Lance situation is being used to cover up how dirty the sport really is. We know that there has been many cyclists doping for a LONG time and nothing major has been done about it. I don't think we should be concentrating solely on Armstrong but on why doping has been allowed to go on for such a long time. I'm of the opinion that this goes much deeper then the individual athlete.

anyone who ever said that professional sport was about the sport was lying, it's about winning because winning brings more money, more sponsorship and cheating is rife in just about every code of every professional sport. Sports people these days are not worth all the BS hero worship thrust upon them, as they all have to cheat to survive, cheat to gain the financial backing to continue.

He actually gave a very limited admission of guilt, and flat-out denied many of the accusations in the USADA report. For example, he claimed that he was clean during his comeback in 2009 & 2010 (he's already been stripped of his results for those races), and denied the story about having a positive test covered up in 2001. So either the report is part fact, part fiction, or Armstrong still isn't telling the whole story. And he's still basically calling his accusers liars.

I've only seen selected highlights from the interview, but he comes across terribly - bordering on sociopathic at times. He looked up "cheating" in a dictionary and decided that it didn't apply to him? The worst part was probably when he was asked about Emma O'Reilly and admitted that he couldn't remember whether he sued her or not, because "we sued so many people...".

Pretty obvious why he went for Oprah rather than a proper journalist though - she let an awful lot of things go by without following up. At one point she even showed a video of him lying under oath, but never actually asked him whether he had lied under oath or not. Most of the commentary i've read this morning is very sceptical of his story, and pretty critical of his "performance" too. I can't help but think that he's going to face much tougher questioning in the not-too-distant future.

Some news reports have cited that the statute of limitations as to certain potential crimes, especially on the Federal level, may have run out. so making it very difficult to prosecute criminal charges and if convicted or made a deal, to face jail time.

Like many 'sinners' he is wanting repentance from the public. He is also like many such competitive athletes, with a certain pathlogical mental state, that they believe they can say anything and get away with it - and he has until recently. To me he has no creditability, he is just trying to cover his sorry butt and will go down in history as just some sad, sick person who will have ruined competitive cycling and our attitudes toward athletes in general.

RE: What Will Lance Say To Oprah?

A few jewels from a 6 months' old thread.

He has taken 500+ drug tests in his racing career and failed 0. 'nuff said...

Yeah, I call BS on that one.

News flash to T.H..............The world will always remember Lance Armstrong as the greatest rider the sport has ever had; period.

This whole process just reaks of stupidity. It's a total whichhunt. They are looking for evidence to support a conclusion.

It's amazing the lengths some seem to want to go here...the man has a story that's hard to beat and an indomitable will. The French accept as "fact" that he doped...well there's a lot of things the French seem to resent when their guys lose, and they get angry and en masse groupthink their way to vilification of their opponents and excuses as to why their side lost.

Wake me when they find anything.... until then, why even talk about it?

I guess it's time to wake up guys and learn a lesson or two.

Judging from this thread no one will remember tiger woods in a decade, they only speak of a sex addict, same here on Lance.

Reality Check...all sports are full of cheaters is one way or another... and cater to companies for money...this is no different.

The question I find myself asking is if he ever did have cancer? Or was that part of the elaborate cover up too?

Yes, he underwent brain surgery and chaemotherapy as part of an elaborate deception.

I have zero sympathy for Lance Armstrong the cheating cyclist, but I think you're possibly the only person in the World who doubts he had cancer.

My only question is how did he beat all drug tests he took when racing the tour de france.

Well Tiger Woods didn't cheat. The sex addiction story was an "only in the US" kind of thing. It seems he really needed to fuck around to be on top of the sport, though.

All sports have cheaters and many don't really try to find them (like football/soccer) however not in all sports has doping the same results, you won't become a start basketball player thanks to products.

Well there are many tactics, for example when he mentions blood transfusions, those weren't detectable until a few years ago. If you used your own blood that is.
