Ex-TSA Body Scanners Headed To Statue Of Liberty?

Thu Jan 31, 2013 11:10 pm

Currently, the Statue of Liberty has some of those GE EntryScan puffer machines, and from what I heard, they have been notoriously unreliable as they were with the TSA at airports.

Considering that the TSA has stated they intend on transferring the Rapiscan backscatter X-ray body scanners to other government agencies, could they be headed to the Statue of Liberty to replace the puffers there? I know many people will complain, but we have to protect our symbol of freedom.

Does the Statue of Liberty really need such sophisticated security equipment ? Why not just use a standard metal detector and open and inspect all bags ?

Oh, the irony of requiring people to surrender their privacy in order to visit the Statue of Liberty.

Hope it never happens.
