I don't get why people make such a big deal about Fox News leaning right when MSNBC is just as bad, if not worse, when it comes to the left. Is it just because Fox has much higher ratings and thus becomes some sort of target?
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

that limit almost every practical way to overthrow the government?

I really don't go down that road, but I do think that occupation of certain parts of our country (from the US government or a foreign one) would be difficult due to an insurgency. No one is suggesting some back country folk are going to shoot down Apaches or destroy some M1A1s but an insurgency would make life difficult and causalities high. I think that is the mindset behind it all

Then let's spell it out why we do it, and actually train and otherwise prepare people for it. Either that, or let's admit that it's a bad idea because the problems caused by zillions of guns lying around is worse than the problem of Mexico or Canada or the Tea Party overthrowing the US government.

That's what happens when you have a successful product.

If you don't have a successful product you sell it to Al-Jazeera.

Source for "high raitings"?

The problem is: people cite FOX like they are the only trustworthy news source even when it is proven over and over again they are doing everything they can to silence Democrats. They claim they are "fair and balanced" but that is like Marlboro saying their product has no side effects at all. MSNBC does not even claim to be "fair and balanced" but they are there to balance out FOX. But, no one cares. FOX is on so many basic cable systems around the country while MSNBC is on premium subscriptions.

Raitings at FOX have nothing to do with it. It is their outright lie that they are "fair and balanced" that bothers me.

And, about al-Jezeera: they are much more "fair and balanced" than FOX. Problem is: they concern themselves with news of the world, not about propping up the right-wing of the United States. Just like NHK, Deuche Welle, BBC, CBC, etc...

Anyone notice that part 1 of this thread was started by IllinoisMan and part 2 is started by Iowaman?

Just found that a little ironic. Maybe part 3 will be by NebraskaMan?

You are a serious broken record. I don't find your constant rants about FOX News to be relevant to anything other than your anti-right agenda. If you could perhaps focus in on the posters who you believe have been brainwashed by FOX News, that'd be great. Personally, I don't even have cable anymore, yet I feel like if I disagree with your point of view then I must be some sort of Hannity wannabe. Can you see how insulting your approach can be? I'd prefer you just say that you think I'm wrong and why, then be done with it.

Seb; Just because you despise Fox News doesn't make them liars; And the reason you're so "bothered is because Fox News IS "fair and balanced".

Quoting seb146 (Reply 4):

Show me ONE example of where Fox News EVER attempted to "silence" any Democrat; They merely "point out" how WRONG they are; (and they're very good at it too !)

Quoting seb146 (Reply 4):

Why would you ask some one you disagree with to name a "source" that you disagree with, Seb ? That would merely be arguing; anyone who has been on this forum for more than a week certainly realizes that attempting to convince you that Fox News is "good" knows it's an exercise in futility, so why bother?

So now your you're going to try to convince us that al-Jezeera is "fair and balanced", eh ? And you like to listen to DW, BBC, CBC, etc. ? (No wonder you're so mixed up !) I'll tell you what; you keep listening to al-Jezeera and the BBC, and I'll keep listening to Fox News; is that O.K. with you ? ( Next you'll be trying to tell us that the Daily KOS is "Fair and Balanced" !

Oh, so you must watch or be quite educated about al-jezeera to make such a statement, right? Nvm, we know ignorance never stopped you from anything.

Still waiting on your wonderful source about Nancy Lanza being Democrat.

Al Jazeera caters to their primary audience in the Middle East, and expats in Europe from the Middle East. I find that the BBC and Reuters does a better job with international coverage than Al Jazeera. For example, when I was watching the Japan earthquake and tsunami coverage live, I was flipping through the major broadcasters and nobody even came close to the BBC.

I find the BBC World Service is the most usable news source because it doesn't have super-egos yelling at each other all the time. It also talks about parts of the world that most US sources don't seem to know exists. It's funny some of the UK taxpayers get so wound up about having to pay taxes for the service when it should be pretty clear that the alternative is a stream of News Corp funded drek. Murdock is like Castro and Chavez - the world will be a better place when they shed their mortal coil.

I'll add that the BBC correspondents ask hard questions and keep asking them till they get satisfactory answers. It seems in the US the media isn't willing to do that any more, except in rare cases. In the US we quite often get interviews of two or more guests who more or less agree with each other and the interview becomes a shouting match of egos trying to make sure all their very similar points get heard. Total drek, IMHO.

Of course not. The fact that they're liars makes them liars. ( referring to Fox News )

Lets see now; in the last 6 months or so, I've heard you refer to Fox News as being liars, (because YOU don't agree with them, but during all that time, I haven't noticed a SINGLE instance of where you have pointed out a SINGLE lie that Fox has told; ( mainly because you can't NAME any lie they have told, simply because Fox News doesn't lie ! ) all of which, (IMO), makes YOU sound like a BROKEN RECORD !

Do you seriously think that I, (or anyone else who LIKES Fox News) even CARES what YOU think about Fox News ? My best suggestion to you would be.........tune in to The Daily Kos and listen to that drivel all day long, and you will no doubt be much happier ! ( It will also make a few members of A.net happier also, because we won't have to keep listening to you calling Fox News liars every other day. ) Haven't you ever heard of the time honored principle of...."the burden of proof is on the accuser"?

If you simply must resort to calling everyone you disagree with a derogatory name, I think you need to be prepared to back up your accusations.

( Thank You in advance ! )

Keeping in mind that FOX does everything it can to make Democrats look as worse as possible instead of reporting on news, fine with me! As opposed to BBC, al-Jezeera, NHK, etc who say Senator X said this and Senator Y said that. Put that along side FOX who says "Republican Senator X supports America by saying X while Democrat Y is against that plan!" Yeah. That's fair and balanced.

As "fair and balanced" as FOX is, yes. Yes, they are.

FOX is losing among 25-54 year olds. Big time. MSNBC is gaining. You can certainly research any of the above information on your own. You will simply say my "liberal" facts are wrong. But, go ahead. Research it. I'll wait...

IMHO, US based news organisations just don't cut it at all, especially when it comes "international"
In fact you could almost be forgiven for thinking no other countries in the world exist apart from the US sourced news.

I cant remember the last time I saw a really good interview from the US broadcasters ?

FOX will cover news from other countries. When they believe it will increase their ratings. I have not seen anything on Syria or Egypt in the past month on FOX. North Korea? Yeah.. they covered a little bit of that. Wall-to-wall when Benedict announced his resignation. That is something we are all supposed to be obsessed with, I guess. In a free country where we are free to follow our own religion, we are all supposed to be Catholic? It is news, to be sure. Not to the point FOX covers it. I am Protestant. Why do I care that much if Benedict resigns? He does not lead my sect. Tell me how negotiations on sequestration are coming. Tell me why the right are filibustering Chuck Hagel's nomination. Tell me what is going on in Canada, our biggest trading partner. Are they having elections? Lumber taxes?
