Return Address On Business Reply Mail?

Thu Feb 21, 2013 6:51 am

I was wondering, do you have to put your own return address on a Business Reply Mail envelope? I sent one out today, and I remembered I didn't put a return address on it.

Looking at the format for a Business Reply Mail envelope, it appears the upper left corner is for the permit holder's use, such as to place a company logo. Based on this, it appears that I don't have to put a return address on it. Could anyone confirm?

No return address needed. There's actually an exacting template which has to be followed for the permit holder in order for the piece to be acceptable, and it doesn't include a return address as part of the official it. It should look something like what's at the link below, if we're talking about the same thing:

I'm not sure what we're talking about here; A business reply mail envelope? That could mean two or three different things;

If I received a letter from a business, and it didn't have the return address of the business on it, I would probably pitch it in the "round file". But you're saying that "you sent one out today" ? If you sent it out, then I guess I'll have to assume that you know who it's going to; and knowing that, I would have to assume that you have some kind of "business" with who ever you sent it to. Inasmuch as you say you didn't put your return address on it, I'm thinking that there is an excellent chance that the addressee will doubtless "do" the same thing I said I would probably do.

Understand.......this is all just speculation; I'm merely guessing here, as I don't know enough about the circumstances to make a logical conclusion.

Maybe if you give a little more specific information, someone can help you more.

Charley, he's talking about those postage-paid envelopes and postcards that businesses send out for current/prospective customers to return; like when the credit card companies mail you an application. "NO POSTAGE NECESSARY IF MAILED IN THE UNITED STATES" it says in the upper right corner of the envelope.

The ones I get from Discover (they send me about three offers per week    ) actually have my home address pre-printed in the upper left corner. Nutty, that...
