March Madness 2013 Thread

Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:37 pm

Well, the brackets are just about all out, and so far all I can think is that the PAC-12 has been kind of kicked around in terms of the seeding with the champions getting a 12 seed and the runners up getting a 6, and the team that I was wishing would be another Cinderella story, Valpo, got Michigan State in the first round..

#1 seeds are: Louisville (#1 overall), Kansas, Indiana and Gonzaga

The Midwest Region is going to be a bloodbath. So many good teams.

Ugh. If only I didn't have so much work this week... Going to be a great opening week.

The runners-up in this case are the better team, in a rather mediocre conference.

That was an excellent game last night, and a case study in how to beat the crap out of a zone defense.

The Pac-12 is a lot better than it was last season, and Oregon probably was underseeded, but I agree that UCLA was the better team, at least later in the season. The Pac-12 started out well and then really tailed off the last few weeks.

My Billikens are a 4 seed, and I'm happy about that! Not so happy about the rest of the teams in the Midwest--tough region. Hoping we can have a good run this year.

I am happy to see the A-10 have a very good showing. Temple is leaving next year, but A-10 is easily the best mid-major out there.

I'm not arguing that UCLA is the better team because I think we can all agree that they are, I just don't get how there can be that much of a discrepancy.

I would be thrilled to see Bucknell beat Butler, but I don't think that'll happen. Not saying it won't, but unlikely...

I need Iowa State to come through for me in the Round of 64 and get rid of that awful school that's name shall not be mentioned. Taking out Ohio State in the Field of 32 would be nice, too, but won't happen.

Overall I can't complain about the draw my Lobos were given. There are some very good teams in the West region, but none that strike me as bad matchups until at least the sweet sixteen, and matchups are the real key to winning in the tournament. I'm hoping this is the year we finally put a run together in the tournament. We have the talent and the draw to get it done.

I hope so too. A lot of Lobo fans have big time respect for the Billikens, and not just because of that butt kicking we got in St. Louis this season. Coach Majerus was a well liked figure in Albuquerque from his days coaching at Utah. Even though he was the opponent's coach, his gracious attitude toward our fans and overall decency won the respect of our fan base. I know there are a lot of New Mexico fans pulling for the Billikens this year.

I am excited for the Bills too. I think that the team should be able to beat New Mexico. That means that we would either play Oregon or OSU Cowboys. Would be great if the Billikens could go to the final four.

Billikens play New Mexico State, not New Mexico, and yes they should have no problems beating the Aggies. Oh, and your jaw is going to hit the floor when you see the center for New Mexico State. He's listed at 7'5" and 355 pounds, but I think he might be even bigger.

Let the (play-in) games begin!

So far, a really impressive shooting performance by NC A&T and Liberty.

Mark(s) my words, Boise State will take down La Salle, upset Kansas State, and may even knock off Ole Miss/Wisconsin to make it to the Sweet Sixteen! You heard it here first!

God, I hope not. First, I really, really, really, really, really dislike BSU. Second, gotta root for the home-state team that hasn't sniffed the tournament in 20+ years. Plus, how can you argue with a nickname like "Explorers"?
