Anything and everything you need to know can be found on sites like Crackberry.com as they have entire sections and forums dedicated to BlackBerry.

http://crackberry.com/

Asking here is not ideal as most of the users here are iPhone and Android users and are likely not up to date on BlackBerry products.

Let me start by saying this:

I have used an iPhone and I have used a blackberry (I own one).

The blackberry product is tailored towards business users, which is great but it isn't THAT good at being a business phone. I've got a Curve 9360. Good little phone - Wifi, 3G, NFC, can even be used as a data server (although I haven't personally tried that). I'll admit this is an OS7.1 device but still, sort of relevant. My biggest bugbear is that IT DOESN'T SUPPORT IMAP. A business phone that doesn't support IMAP. Who even uses POP3 these days if they sync their emails?

I haven't tried BB10 (and aren't likely to - I'm probably going to Android when my contract ends in January) but if it's anything like 7.1 (or the hardware is like the previous gen of BB phones) then it'll be a try-hard that isn't quite there.

Plus if their App Store is anything like the App Store on the BB6/7 devices, it will be SHOCKINGLY awful. Overpriced, poor choice and generally awful.

Honestly, go for a Nokia Lumia, Samsung Galaxy S3, whatever, just avoid Blackberry.

You cannot compare BB10 to any prior version of the BlackBerry operating system. It's a completely new OS that retains nothing from prior versions of the BBOS and is based off of QNX's Neutrino OS which is also used in their PlayBook tablet. Even BlackBerry World for BB10 has a wider selection of apps than what's available for the prior generation devices. There was over 70,000 BB10 apps available at the time they launched BB10 on January 31st.

Most apps for android can be easily ported to the QNX format for use in BB10... there are even converters for simple apps.

Honestly if you are syncing business email you are probably using ActiveSync.

And you CAN setup IMAP on a Blackberry 10 device? And could via BIS as well? I have an IMAP account on my Z10 right now.

Blackberry

It's stylized "BlackBerry". Note the second capitalized 'B'. I know it's a small detail, but it drives me nuts when people spell it like the fruit.

Quoting srbmod (Reply 1):

There's not much to say here. Everything you could ever want to know is on CrackBerry. When I worked for RIM, I often went to CrackBerry instead of searching through our KB database if there was something technical I needed to know (usually workarounds), they're really that good.

On your 9360? I used to use one of those and it certainly did support IMAP. I used it for my university email.

How can you tell the OP to steer clear of a product you've never even used?    That's like saying "don't buy an iPod Touch because I had a bad experience with an iPod Nano"...

It's (thankfully) not even recognizable compared to BB7. App World (now called BlackBerry World) was also massively improved.

I know it's new but it stands to reason if the earlier version is bad then the newer version will have problems. Still though, 70,000 apps is terrible. It's nothing on the iOS Store or the Android store.

I can't get it to work - I've spent hours on the phone with my provider. I've given up now.

I have used a BlackBerry though. I bet that if OS7.1 is bad that OS10 will be probably reasonably similar in the sense of it will have issues of its own.

I know there are instructions how to do it, it just refuses to push my email to my phone. I've got Gmail and the instructions are even easier than the ones you posted but it refuses to work.

That's not reasonable at all. As mentioned ad nauseum in every other smartphone thread in the past 6 months: it's a completely different operating system. BB7.1 and BB10 don't even look like they're made by the same company (and technically they're not, because BB10 is based on the QNX platform).

I would fully agree with you if you advised the OP to avoid a BB7 device, but I would recommend actually experiencing the Z10 before passing judgement.

70,000 is low, but not terrible. Keep in mind that BB10 is a completely different platform than BB7, so those 70,000 apps were only created in the past year or so compared to iOS and Android which have been around much longer.

There's now 100,000 BB10 apps according to a tweet from the BlackBerryDev Twitter account.

With the Z10 officially launching tomorrow in the US to consumers (T-Mobile has had it for business customers for about a week and launch it to consumers on 3/26.), you're going to see a lot of the big name apps showing up. There will be an Amazon Kindle app (One that was long promised for the PlayBook [Anyone with the Kindle app on their PlayBook sideloaded the Android version of it.] and never officially supported for OS7 devices.) and there is a version of the Fly Delta app for BB10 and a BB10 version of BlackBerry Travel is out as well.

I think that with the fairly positive sales in other countries, more developers may decide to develop a BB10 version of their apps, even if it is a port of their Android app. US sales numbers will be the true test of whether more developers will jump into the pool including those that previously had OS6 and OS7 apps but were waiting to see what BB10 does.

Z10 is coming to Hong Kong but what about Q10?

How often does BlackBerry produce a new model in the same line?

Will BlackBerry 10 have many apps? Like BBC news, We chat, Viber etc?

The Q10 isn't even on the market yet, but is rumored to go on sale in late April in some markets like the UK and possibly Canada. More than likely the Q10 will be available by Summer in the majority of markets.

As of right now there are over 100,000 BB10 apps available in BlackBerry World and that number continues to increase. Viber is slated for BB10, as is WeChat. No word on the BBC News app.

This year BlackBerry is supposed to bring 6 different BB10 models to the market. Three are supposed to be touchscreen and three are supposed to be touchscreen+physical keyboard. The Z10 and the Q10 are the first two models out but little is known about the remaining 4 devices. There is a rumored high-end BB10 touchscreen phablet device called the Aristo whose specs were leaked last Fall and no images have been leaked (purported ones that have shown up were determined to be DevAlpha or DevBeta units BlackBerry gave to app developers).

Are they more secured than other phones?

Can customers opt for the traditional BlackBerry server with higher security level?

Which one is the best? Nokia Lumia 928, BlackBerry 10, I phone 5 or Galaxy S 4?

As I suggested earlier, go over to Crackberry.com, as they can answer your questions a more than those of us here. There are a lot more knowledgeable folks on this over there that can easily help you. The same people behind that site also have sister sites related to Android, Windows Phone and iPhone.

Another Q: will there be a BlackBerry messenger on Z10 and Q10?

Yes.

I highly recommend that you spend some time over at Crackberry.com, as any and all questions you may have can be answered by reading the articles and forums over there. I wouldn't keep mentioning that site if I didn't think it was a good resource to check out. BlackBerry users make up a small part of the active membership here and not everyone is fully versed on everything about BlackBerry 10. If this was a thread about the latest Android device or iPhone, there would be a lot of users that could tell you what you need to know. Of the folks here that are BlackBerry users, the vast majority of us haven't even touched, let alone seen a Z10 or Q10 (which isn't on the market yet) in person. They just started selling the phone here in the US to consumers and many retailers haven't even bothered to promote the Z10 or even put out display units.
