You're lucky as -- thanks to the recession -- Dublin has some of the best value room rates in Europe. Avoid anything in the centre of Temple Bar if you want somewhere quiet. It's a very safe city and very walkable, but the usual travel advice applies, particularly around the city centre. I would avoid anything around the O'Connell St area: it's not dangerous, but there's not much to do there at night, apart from fast food joints.
Seeing that you're coming from Norway and will get a good exchange rate, you should probably spoil yourself, so here are a few really nice hotels that should be good value for you. All prices are for a double/twin room in late July:

This is a bit far from the city centre. The area is nice, but you'd need to get taxis to get into the city centre if you wanted to avoid long walks.
