Ah well, back to the real world after the sojourn en Bretagne. Sunny days (mainly) and nice beaches that weren't too busy, quiet countryside and empty roads.
Some holiday snaps.
Sun setting in Portsmouth, as seen from the ferry
Some of the Royal Navy
The Spinnaker at Gunwharf Quays. The lab I used to work in did the wind tunnel tests on this development many moons ago.
St Malo in the early morning
The holiday house - a renovated ex-farmhouse
View from upstairs window. Trying to balance the flash with outside light got the better of me.
Cat that lived in another house catching some sun
The neighbour's donkey
Local town of Pontrieux. Very old centre with cobbled streets. Usually a lot more traffic.
Pontrieux used to be a rich town and one of the "getting ahead of the neighbours" signs of wealth was to have a wash house on the river - un Lavoir. The better the lavoir the greater the wealth.
There was a nice boat trip up and down the river to see the various wash houses and ever year there's a fete des lavoirs where they're celebrated.
The bridge over the river in the centre of town, as seen from a boat
Other boats doing the tour, in the morning mist
The house between the rocks on the north coast.
Low tide at Port Blanc with rock pools and many boats
More boats and blue seas at Le Royau
Fisheye beach view
Boat after the tide went out
It can be enlarged via here
Lake near the house
Morning sun through the trees
At a nearby zoo, a red panda hiding from the heat.
Bug shot... a hummingbird hawk moth that has seen better days (100mm macro lens and 430EXii flash)
