What's Up With Match.com Now?

What's up with match.com now?

When I was younger I used to make friends through match.com. Doesn't seem that people use it anymore. What do people use now?

I no longer meet people randomly online

I met my wife through Match.com. She in turn introduced my best friend to one of her co-workers, and they eventually married as well. We now have a son; they have a daughter and are working on their second child.

It's amazing what can come from one e-mail.

Internet dating is such a sham. Very rarely do people actually turn out who they are on the interwebs. EA CO AS seems to be one of the lucky few.

Hmmm. My brother met his wife on match, as did one of my friends, I believe.

I haven't personally used internet dating, but seems to me that if you're just a little careful, you won't really have to worry about shams and such. In however-many years of internet usage, I've certainly never had to worry about shams, scams, etc.

That's why you, you know, meet them. In real life.

I was on match for a while. My main complaint is the site is pretty costly. It's also pretty dated in terms of look and feel (last time I was on it). In short they seem to charge a lot and not do much to enhance the web site. I imagine they end up having to spend a large share of their income on advertising. Either that or they're just greedy.

BTDT. No real complaints per se.

To me it was interesting to see how many women emphasized their workout habits. Seems to me if they were such gym rats they probably wouldn't be needing to use match.com to find men.

Sounds like someone either got rejected too many times, or has never tried it.

It's no more of a sham than going to a bar to hit on people. I know people in happy relationships/marriages that have met on a dating website. I also know people in miserable relationships/marriages that met on a dating website.... kinda just like people that meet anywhere else.

It's only sad when someone is actually paying for a membership. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with it IMO.

I know people that have used it, and they were unimpressed with the results. Free sites like OKCupid and Plenty of Fish have had more success amongst me and my friends that have used such things. You have a more diverse crowd of people there.

For the record, my current girlfriend and I met through mutual friends... which I still consider the best way to meet someone.

No one needs to use match to find significant others. My brother certainly didn't, nor did my friend. But it can be quite convenient.

It´s great for no compromise sex. At least in my neck of the woods. I use it for that. Serious relationships? I think I only met one person worth it. The rest were just nutcases.

Have some faith man. I've made several longterm, good friends from online who were absolutely no different face to face from how they were during Internet conversation. You have to be careful of course, but with sensible precautions and the right pace and approach it can be a perfectly good way of meeting people.

I met my soon to be wife on eharmony. I met a lot of women that were nuts too! With my job it was the only good option to have consistent communication with the opposite sex while trying to find the right one. It did occasionally get discouraging because people were way different in person than online sometimes.

I tried match.com once about 8 years ago. The one girl I met from there was certifiably crazy. Her first words to me were "ooh you look like a rapist - my favourite type of man!" Needless to say I couldn't wait for that date to end and I never tried internet dating again after that

You should. After a while it actually gets funny. You come to the point when you realize that reality is much more crazy than those sit-coms on TV.

My brother met a woman, who is now his wife, on a dating website. Not Match.com, but something similar.

You actually went through with the date? You are a brave man. What if she had suggested you go back to her place for a little bit of maiming and pillaging and raping, huh?
