OMG where can I watch this?

As a 10-year old child, I already knew all Bond films by heart. A three-second scene sufficed to tell which film it was from.

Not even sure where to begin. I know Encore Movie Channel is the one listed, and in the US it's offered on all the cable/satellite networks. Maybe someone else knows.

Just for fun.

Except for one time.

Wow, that's a hell of a steal. I own probably half of them, accrued as gifts over the last few years, but I would kill for that whole set. I love how Blu-Ray is cheaper than regular!

I have the whole lot on Blu Ray. Nothing better with the 50'' HD TV and surround sound. I watch over and over and never get tired of watching the films. I prefer the older ones with Connery and Moore. Dr No / You Only Live Twice / From Russia With Love / Diamonds are Forever.

I like that they're showing the Bond film that almost never gets shown in "Bond-a-thons"- On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I heard it said once, and I agree, that if On Her Majesty's Secret Service had starred Sean Connery or Roger Moore instead of George Lazenby it would be considered to be one of the best of the Bond films.

I agree that it's great to see some of the lesser-played ones. Also agree about OHMSS. I also thought Lazenby was a fine Bond...he just couldn't compare to the hype expected after the fantastic Connery. But OHMSS is a solid movie.

Goldfinger was not that great a movie. I have no idea why it is viewed as such a classic.

It's probably my least favorite of the Connery films (aside from Never Say Never Again which I don't really count).

I agree. Also, one of the best things about the Moore films was the soundtracks. "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Live and Let Die" in particular had great soundtracks, but "For Your Eyes Only" was off the charts. That sting when they discover the sunken remains of the Valletta is one of my favorite moments of movie music of all time. Plus the gunbarrel music has cowbell!

It's probably the best known Connery film IMO. I haven't watched it enough to say it was it wasn't a favorite. An interesting fact is For You're Eyes only was filmed in Corfu, Greece. When I visited there in the mid 90's I didn't know or realize this. Watching it recently I recognized some if the architecture.

Yes they have filmed in some really nice places. I have visited where they filmed.

Also ''From Russia with Love'' I always wanted to visit the underground Basilica in Istanbul and Aghia Sophia since I saw that movie as a kid. It was great to see it.

I also saw the British Colonial Hilton in the Bahamas when I was there which is where ''Thunderball'' was filmed.

Goldfinger has some of the best lines of any Bond film, I'll give you that. Particularly the way he says "EXCEPT CRIME!" in the famous...errr...."except crime" speech.

There are far more fundamental problems with the film though, namely that apart from the pre-gunbarrel sequence Bond is pathetically ineffectual for the whole film. He just gets captured all the time. Goldfinger's plan is thwarted by Pussy Galore; the bomb is defused by Leiter. All Bond manages to do is annoy Goldfinger and provoke him into killing people. It makes the whole film just annoying to watch.

The best Connery Bond movie is most definitely From Russia With Love (bonus- also the hottest Bond girl). You Only Live Twice runs a close second, and would be even better if they hadn't made the strange decision to kill off the interesting Bond girl and replace her with an automaton.

There's the Bond girls...

... and Q's inventions and testing facility walk-through where we get to witness the bizarre items in action... but a lot of the fun in the Bond movies are the interesting characters playing the main villain's henchmen / assassins:

The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker - Jaws (Richard Kiel)
A View to a Kill - Mayday (Grace Jones)
The Man With The Golden Gun - Nick Nack (Hervé Villechaize)
Goldfinger - OddJob
Octopussy - The giant Gobinda, and the madman with the sawblade yo-yo
For Your Eyes Only - Locque: the mysterious guy with the Octagonal glasses who never spoke a word
Diamonds are Forever - Bambi and Thumper!!! Also, the two sinister gay guys, Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd (only movie role for jazz musician Putter Smith)
Live and Let Die - Whisper / Tee Hee / Baron Samedi

... and more I can't think of right now.

Great entertainment!

I agree to an extent. There's no other Bond that even comes close to Connery's star attraction. But looking at this purely as a traditionalist who believes that every Bond portrayed on screen should be portrayed as closely as possible to Fleming's vision of Bond, I think Timothy Dalton is right up there as the best, along with Connery's first two performances. Dalton plays Bond the way he was meant to be played; the way he was written in the novels.

Roger Moore was my least favourite Bond because his character was the furthest from the Fleming vision of Bond. Bond is meant to be a cold, ruthless killer. I get that impression when I watch Connery, Dalton or Craig as Bond, but Moore? Nope.

That being said, For Your Eyes Only is by far my favourite Bond film starring Moore. It is the most Fleming-like of all of his films.

Part of what makes Bond films great are the musical scores. Sadly we lost John Barry several years ago. The composer David ? Arnold isn't bad. He gets better with each film.
I still feel Connery is Bond. My favorites by far are From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, Dr. No. You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever are also faves. By far the worst was Live and Let Die. George Martin doing the music was a big letdown. And it was like Bond meets Blaxploitation, meets a bad episode of Love American Style.

I read somewhere that originally back in the day they were considering George Lazenby (On Her Magesties Secret Service). Any truth to this factoid? How do you think Lazenby would have done had he not quit the Bond films after one movie? A lot of folks say he could have been up there with Sean Connery. One will never know. I remember Lazenby opted not to do another Bond film because he felt they had seen their day. Talk about a botched decision.

Did the marathon have commercial interruptions? Whenever ABC aired the Bond movies they ruined them by strip mining them for commercials and editing all the good stuff out. Future Bond flicks should revive Spectre, Smersh and bring back Ernst Stavros Blofeld and his kitty.

My main complaint about Blofeld was that he was played by a different actor in every movie. If you're going to have the same villain in several movies, can't he at least look the same? It's different with having different actors play Bond, because the series has gone on for so long that you couldn't realistically expect the same actor to keep playing and have the movie seem fresh. But Blofeld's character showed up multiple times within just a few years, yet they couldn't get the same actor?

Speaking of different actors playing Blofeld, there were two actors (that I can think of) who played both a Bond friend, and a Bond villain, in different movies. Who were they?

Yep, those are the two.
The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word, and doesn't even make sense.

I had completely forgotten until recently that he played Wade. I was watching an MST3K episode with one of his movies and IMDB-ed him. Stunning.

Did the marathon have commercial interruptions? Whenever ABC aired the Bond movies they ruined them by strip mining them for commercials and editing all the good stuff out.

All of the Bonds were shown uncut and without commercials (except for a few minutes in between movies) - it is a premium movie channel ala HBO, Showtime, etc.

Connery IS Bond.

Connery is the BEST. However, I must say though I like Craig as I see him as a modern day Connery. I never liked Dalton though, can't say exactly why but just never cared for him but I do like Dalton in Hot Fuzz.

My personal favorite is From Russia with Love. The worst Bond movie is and always will be Moonraker!

I keep hearing though that Sam Mendes will not be directing the next Bond film which is disappointing as Skyfall was one of the best in a long time.

The best chase scene for me is without a doubt, no arguing, unequivocally "Goldeneye - the tank chase!"
