We Hope Go Away in 2018

Mon Dec 25, 2017 8:51 am

First, please forgive me for my absence this year. The more tech things, the more to do with so little time. I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season and 2018 soars to new heights of greatness and happiness! It wouldn't be the end of the year without my thread on things we want to go away in 2018. Obviously, human suffering, cruelty to animals, terrorism, hate are things that can't go away fast enough. On a lighter note here are some of mine in no particular order.
Celebrities/politicians etc:
[*]
[*] Kim Jung Un
[*] Judge Roy Moore
[*] Harvey Weinstein
[*] Ben Afflick
[*] Justin Beiber
[*] Matt Lauer
[*] Meryl Streep (overrated)
[*] Nikki Minaj
[*] Colin Kaepernick (not sure on spelling)
[/*]
Other Stuff
[*] Christmas Creep
[*] Halloween/New Years Overhype
[*] March Madness
[*] New York Yankees, New England Patriots dynasties
[*] The Royal family gavel to gavel crud. The Royals have the market cornered on inbreeding.
[*] Apple's snarky elitist culture and their questionable business ethics
[*] Big Ass fugly SUV's
[*] Reality programming
[*] Ambulance chaser lawyer commercials
[*] Big Pharma and their adds/their strong-arm tactics in regard to alternative medicine and I feel keeping the truth on many cures from us.
[*] Miramax
[*] Isis/Hezbala/Taliban/Al Queda
[*] The control of both major parties (USA) by the extreme wings.
[/*]
I'll have more but let's hear what you have to say.
I'm Zippyjet & I approve of this message!

I would like to frame it as a solution for:
[*] Ukraine - Russia crisis
[*] Syria crisis
[*] Democratic Republic Congo crisis
[*] Jemen crisis/war

[note] Indeed North Korea crisis not on the list, because America must tune down its tone and we should continue to contain it, no real shift there last year.

What may go away:
[*] Deliberate fake news by governments
[*] Tax evasion
[*] Politicians leaning too much to big business instead of the needs of ordinary people
[*] Big pharma introducing more and more expensive life-saving medicine at the cost of society at large
[*] Pure financial thinking, there are more things important than just amoral spreadsheet profit (outsourcing pollution to society at large or almost slave labor in textile industry in Bangladesh or Birma)

What may be introduced:
[*] Effective CO2 pricing (good solution for transition to renewable fuels)
[*] A bit more equal spread of wealth
[*] More tax on things we don't want, and less tax on things we do want: e.g. less tax on labor

As for "politicians" like Putin, Assad or Trump, well they are part of a system: a 12 headed snake, you can cut off one head, but that doesn't really help.

And for a season thought: "don't do to others what you don't like to be done to yourself".
Many happy landings, greetings from The Netherlands!

Meryl Streep overrated? I don't think so.

Things I hope would go away in 2018

* Overtly political threads on A.net
* Anything about Trump
* The Middle East issue
* Complaints about the US3, ME3, EU3, and just about any other airlines currently flying out there
* Superhero movies (not going to happen, but one can only hope)
* Stupid people becoming famous just for the sake of being famous.
* Talk show host going all political (it was funny early on, but it's no longer funny now)

Several things I hope that would go away in the next 12 months;

Donald Trumps ignorance of the benefits of World Diplomacy
The vast amount of plastic waste in our oceans
Human greed
Religious intolerance
Grey days

and so much more
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!
Growing older, but not up.

Donald Trump, his family, advisors and Republicans out of power.
Open racist acts like what happened in Charlottsville.
Mass shooting events
ISIS inspired terror events - and not just in the USA.
The mass corruption of and cheating in our sports
The 'dear leader' of North Korea - executed in a military coup.

Love Ralphy boy as your Avatar! Regarding talent shows; fasten your seatbelts ABC is reviving American Idol. Not necessarily go away but the Men's World Cup seems to go on and on. Now the Women's World Cup? A whole different enchilada. BTW excellent responses so far. I'm impressed. Another thing I hope, won't go away but some restraint in regard to advertising and promoting the Winter Olympics. I'm awestruck with both Winter and Summer Olympiads. However, NBC just goes over the top with their strip mining promotions and sappy stories during the games and already Xfinity is killing us with Olympic related advertising. And ER 757 a heartfelt thank you regarding the Royal family. With their colored history, I would tone it down several notches. The American entertainment fluff news shows are the worst offenders. Also, can we tone down all those damn award shows? I know it can be a depressing time of year for many but do we really need to see Hollyweird peacock themselves especially with all the unwanted grabbing and hypocrisy. Regarding little fascist punk Kim Jung Un I'd settle for him falling off the toilet and cracking his pea-brained noggin. I feel most of the world even most of North Korea would be celebrating!

Some new ones for my list:
-When people say "We should get together sometime" or some BS statement like that. When I try to follow up with them they're either busy 100% of the time or don't respond. It's as if people feel it's obligatory to say that and expect the person not to actually follow through with it. If you don't want to hang out with me then don't say it, or if you actually want to tell me when you're available.
-When people pretend to be my friend. Perhaps they do it out of pity, or maybe they're just being nice, but it really throws me off when I think a person is my friend but they end up never contacting me or ignoring me when I try to contact them. I understand no one is obligated to be my friend, but don't lead me on.
-PC/SJW culture. I'm socially progressive, and yet there are people where I have to be really careful what I say or they get triggered. For example, I said transsexual and my sister (who's becoming more and more PC by the day) said "actually you're supposed to say transgender". Granted I'm not transsexual nor have I ever thought I might be a different gender, but god damn does it really make a difference? Are people really going to get triggered over something that small, even though I'm okay with transsexuals, transgenders, transwhatever. It's your life, do what you want and I don't care, but don't expect me to understand the concept 100%. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast, let alone the concept of transsexuality/transgenderism (if that's a word).

Don't suppose you've ever considered that this:

may be a result of having an attitude like this?

Things I'd love to go away in 2018:

- Trump, along with his trashy family, repulsive minions, and horrendous policies
- The ultra right wing nationalism that's spreading across the western world
- Brexit

Live "made for TV" productions. Wizard Of Oz was okay and Rocky Horror Picture Show was okay. The rest are just junk. Stop it already.

My all-time favorite TV show - actually I think Norton was the greatest TV character ever written but I couldn't find a great photo of him for my avatar so Ralph it is.
