Which Airport Is The Largest In The World?

Which airport is the biggest in the world? I heard that DFW and LAX are pretty big.

Riyadh International (Saudi Arabia)


The biggest (busiest)

2. Denver International (DEN)
3. Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)

3. Los Angeles (LAX)
4. London Heathrow (LHR)
5. Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)
6. Tokyo, Haneda (HND)
7. Frankfurt (FRA)

9. San Francisco (SFO)

Anybody have numbers?? I thought I heard somewhere PIT was bigger than DEN in terms of land area. Not sure though. Any links would be appreciated.

No, before DEN was built, DFW was the biggest airport in the US, at 29.3 sqaure miles (18,076 acres). DEN airport is now at 53 square miles. ORD, LAX, and JFK could easily fit into DFW with room to spare.

DEN is very large. At 53 square miles, you could fit the entire city of San Francisco within it's boudaries with room to spare. The city of San Francisco is only 46.7 square miles with a population of approx 800,000.

At the time it was built in the early 70s, YMX was the biggest, in terms of land expropriated.

But can be pretty misleading, just like for instance some not-so-big towns have enormous municipal jurisdictions. Riyadh airport seems to fall into this category.
