DeltaShuttle - How Is It?

Sat Jun 19, 1999 12:28 pm

I would like to know if anybody has used the delta shuttle lately. I am debated weather or not too book my mum on it or just use a standard flight. I have had a look on the delta website and it doesn't look too bad, but how does it compare with standard normal domestic service? Same, better, worse? I want to be looked after well, as she is always a little nevous when flying and this will take her mind off it. Anybody has thoughts on the Delta Shuttle?

PS- this is Lufthansa here - i just got my hair cut and a different colour so i decided i might have a bit of a change with my nick too. Its not permant, the colour washes out and i guess so does the name - it will be an every now and then thing.

The Delta Shuttle has the best domestic service in the United States, in my opinion. They use 727-232s in an all-coach configuration. They have blue leather seats with very generous legroom. Their boarding policy is open seating. Seating is guaranteed, even without a reservation. If they have more passengers than they can accomodate, they'll bring out a backup plane. A snack is served on every flight. Deplaning is through both the forward and rear doors. Free magazines are available in the boarding area. Flight attendants are friendly and professional. There is a telephone in the back of every middle seat. I think you'll love the Delta Shuttle. After your flight, let me know what you thought of it.

Well, its not for me its for my nervous mother. And thats all i needed to hear - thanks Bob - she's going on the Delta Shuttle now i've herd that. Form the web site it looked a cut better than the domestic service i got in the US, and if you confirm that it is, well, your word is good enough for me. I would be going too, as i had planned to come to the US latter on this year, but, i have cancelled and jumped at the chance to go to France with some of my other relatives. If you want to know what AF 777 service is like i can tell you that after i've been on it - I am using it between Singapore and Charles de Gulle, and British Airways from Singapore to Brisbane. She still has to go the US on business though - So delta shuttle it will be then. When i read that the handed out wine complementry(on delta's web site), i thought, well this sounds promising. We need NY,boston and Wshtn. Thanks Bob.

In my opinion, the Delta Shuttle is on a par with regular airlines. However, most airlines don't fly DCA/BOS-LGA/JFK/EWR routes. They give you food on Delta Shuttle, with most airlines, they might ive you a small drink. Also, if youre going from Boston, try and put her on the Delta 767 that flys BOS-JFK every day, its an afternoon flight, and most people prefer widebodies. Also, most small airlines fly those routes, but theyre primarily served by DLShuttle and USAir Shuttle.

Personally, the best in the service. I fly DCA-LGA a lot on the shuttle. I WAS 12 for most my flights, therfore making me a minor traveling a lone. Not only were the gate agents so caring and nice (they canceled my flight and I was a lone!) but s o were the FA's. They gave me a free ticket on the next flight out! The chairs are blue lether,a little dirty, but better then any other coach seat!!! The food is actually pretty good for a snack. At DCA, they have Bloomberg, free reading material, and shops! The flights are on time about 90% of the time to! Enjoy!!!!
