Swissair First Class And Business Class Layout?

Fri Aug 10, 2001 11:05 am

What is the layout of Swissair's first class and business class on longhaul aircraft? I was on a longhaul Swissair flight from ATL-ZRH and then back two weeks later, but I can't remember what it is. I think business is 2-2-2 and first is 1-1-1, but I could be wrong. That was on an A330. Just so I can be sure, what is it on the A330 and on the MD-11? Are all the seats the same too? In economy on the A330, the seats were really comfortable. Would they be the same ones on the MD-11? Thanks!

The layouts are as follows:

MD-11: First = 1-2-1, Business = 2-3-2
A330: First = 1-2-1, Business = 2-2-2

The first class seats are the same on both aircraft types and, I believe that the business seats are the same as well. From what I have heard the MD-11s economy seats are the same as the A330s but are wider and thus more comfortable.

Are they still the typical 2-5-2 layout of economy on an MD-11?

Are you sure about that? I've never heard of an MD-11 with a 3-4-2 layout.

Yes, SRs MD-11s do feature a 3-4-2 layout. I flew aboard SRs MD-11 in '99 and it did indeed have a 3-4-2 layout. In fact, KL and AZ also have this layout on their MD-11s and EgyptAir uses it on their 777. IMO, this is by far the best layout for a 9-abreast economy class.

Is SR still contemplating re-installing PTVs in their MD 11s even though the 346s are on the way??
