Hey,

Yeah I cant wait for the Canada 3000 A340-300. Though correct me if im wrong but the first A340-300 will not be used on the European routes this winter because it will be flying from YYZ-DEL, DEL-YVR, YVR-DEL, DEL-YYZ and that would take up from Monday to Saturday I beleive, and on Sundays it would be used down to Punta Cana Dominican Republic and Back to YYZ. Who knows, the second A340 might be used on the MAN and LGW route.

The A340 will be doing European runs for the first month to finish the pilots line-indoc, the it will start India in October, I think that it arrives early sept around the 9th.

I heard the 340 is sked to arrive YYZ on the evening of Sept 19th. The registration is/will be C-GZIA. Apparently they'll be using it on current random 330 and 310 routes until the first sked India flights start in October.

The 340 arrives Sept. 19th @YYZ. India won't be a flop and you don't have to fly on it Slawko unless you are seniority challenged or language qualified.

Based on my schedule for this month the A340 does arrive on the evening on Sept 19 first in YQX @21:35, then YYZ @ 23:35 as flt#981. It'll likely be pax-less and will only have a purser& pilots on board to bring it home to YYZ from TLS.
Lucky me i will be operating this new a/c into CDG and SXF shortly after it's arrival into YYZ in Sept.
India a flop? i doubt that. Rumour has it the crews will be hand-picked for the first two months of the India flights and the crews will have special uniforms for these months also. I will also try and grab a few snap-shots of this a/c in the next couple of weeks.
From us over here at c3..........the crews are excited about this new addition to the family, and most of us operating on it in Sept are both lucky and excited to "break-it in" before..........well before it smells like everyother a/c.
I do have all the times it is scheduled to land at it's European desintation in Sept, as well as YYZ, YMX, YQX, and YHZ Want them and i'll post but to many to list them all in one post(not to mention i'm lazy right now and experiencing LGW time in YYZ). Sorry for you hamilton and calgary fans, it won't likely be there in the next couple of months. The second A340 is scheduled to arrive in Dec.

by the way watch for the new A319 to arrive in Oct and Nov
A319-112 delivery:10/01 REG: C-GKYA
A319-112 delivery:11/01 REG: C-GKYB
A319-112 delivery:11/01 REG: C-GKYC

Also, not likely to see any 767's in the near future, likely an extension of leases on the 757's.
That's it for now

Just to clarify cmm340's post. YQX is unlikely to be the first point of landing on an airplane that can fly 19+ hrs. The times are off as well even considering local times as it takes 2+ hrs to get to YYZ from YQX. The A340 will fly direct from Toulouse to YYZ in C3 colours. The first 319 will not arrive Oct. 1 but rather the third week of October.

GK

Hey GateKeeper
Perhaps there must be an error in my work schedule then because the pairing for is as follows:
flt:#981 Dep: TLS@20:00 Arr: YQX@21:35 blocked flt time: 06:50
flt:#981 Dep: YQX@21:50 Arr: YYZ@23:35 blocked flt time: 03:15
You could very well be right GK but this IS in my schedule for next month, so perhaps it is a crew planning error. Would the fact that this a/c will be pax-less and practically empty not effect the 'normal' flt times?
As for the A319's this is taken directly from:
http://www.bird.ch/bharms/asr_sh00.htm
I agree with you in that the actual delivery of these may very well be weeks after the date posted on this above listed site. Just was browsing, found this link and found the info interesting.

Cheers

Hmmm......my apologies cmm340. I haven't seen the pairings but my guess would have to be initial qualification of crews. Probably 2 captains each getting a landing prior to revenue service.

I'm curious to find out just why you post stuff like that? Have you any idea that for every reasonable post you may make (and you have made a few), you more than detract from your credibility and ability to make your future points when you have one of your [many] tantrums?

You really do need to wake up and realize that opinions are neither right nor wrong. They are opinions. Attempting to beat someone up or intimidate them into silence does not your point make.

I don't even know why I'm being so nice here. Others might have more succinct language for you.

Best Regards, and try to remember it's a big sandbox: lots of room for everybody...

Nice comment Buff, BTW have you guys worked out where the crews will be stayin in DEL and BOM, and for how long? I know there are some cultural awarness courses scheduled for crews, but I would think that the pilots/flight attendant's groups would want to make sure that your hotels in India are top rate...

Slawko: I won't be doing the routes but I've heard through the grapevine the 5-star hotel in Delhi is walking distance to the Taj Mahal. I have no doubt the hotel in M'umbai (is that the correct spelling?) will be of similar quality if not in location.

GK might be more enlightened on these details...

Dancing Boy,

It's funny that you tell Buff to learn how to spell, and then in the next sentence you spell "Geography" wrong.

Could this be another reflection of your maturity and intelligence displayed on this forum? Since you spend half your waking hours posting on this site, I would think you would show a little more respect to the professionals who also visit on a regular basis.

Seeing as you keep giving us reason to respect you less and less each day, a friendly suggestion would be that you read your posts a few times before you actually post them, and ask yourself how your words make you look to other readers and contributors.

You definately act a lot younger than your profile indicates. Try proving otherwise.

There are 4 pairings for the 340 for this winter. 1 is a 4 day operate in on Monday and back on Thursday. 2 are 5 day with deadheading either at the beginning or end and both go through YVR. Last pairing is a PUJ(subject to change) turnaround on Sunday.

In Bombay, my hotel guesses for the crew would probably be the Leela, the Kohinoor, or the Centaur. These are the only 5-star hotels that are close to the airport.

Bombay's other famous hotels, the Taj Mahal Hotel and the Oberoi, are both very far away, although I have seen ANA crews at the Oberoi.

The bids have come and gone for the 340 crews, am I right? And what's this I hear about them being all Toronto crews and none from Vancouver? Nonsense, methinks.

The jets will arrive in C3 colours. Those of you who've flown with Canada Three in the past months and have glanced through the inflight mag "Atmosphere", have most likely seen a picture of the A340 in there... in full C3 scheme. Looks AMAZING, may I say. Also on that very same page you'll see the A310s and the 737-200s in full C3 colours... not a bad looking fleet when they're all painted up.

Perhaps I can scam an inflight from on of our pursers and scan the images... an awesome sight for any airbus enthusiast.

C3 staff: Anybody know if the PTV systems were taken out from Sabeena's order?

The PTV's are staying in economy as well as executive class the pursurs need a 1 day training coarse to learn how to operate the system I might be wrong but i think there are somthing like 12 DVD players located in a booth type compartment.

I think your comment of "nonsense" is uncalled for. The first airplane is being crewed out of Toronto. The second airplane has not been put out for bid. Since some of the intended flying will be out of Vancouver in the future, it is only a matter of time before those crews will be eligible for slots.

Canada3000's 340

Thu Aug 30, 2001 9:07 am

Hi All
The Hotel in India is a 7(yep count'em, 7) star hotel/resort, which i would name if i didn't think it would be policy violation to do so.(sounds stupid but security issue for crew safety, i believe). It is about three hours from the Taj Mahal i've been told, guess the trip will help pass the time we will be spending there.
And yes the crews for the first two months have been hand picked for the India flights as they will be the people who have completed the cultural training that has been going on, The union has nothing to do with this as c3 cabin crew are still negotiating their first union contract.
Unfortunately, the Vancouver base won't be seeing the A340 at all in the month of September but it willl be both there and likely crewed by Vancouver crew when the flights begin non-stop from Vancouver to India, and when they have crews that have completed the culture training.
Just because the InFlight Magazine shows all a/c in full C3livery does not mean the A340 will 'definately' be arriving in full colours. The latest inflight mag was printed before a single A310 or B737 was ever in c3 colours, therefore these are computer imaging pictures. Realistic ones i might add. I'm not sure how long it takes to paint on the livery but the A340 is in YYZ until it's first revenue flight(about 24hours after it's arival from TLS) departing YYZ at 21:55 enroute to YMX then CDG on Sept 21.
At this point there is no additional training for cabin crew to operate the A340-same door operation, same emerg equip location, etc. Mid galley is merely a wet-galley. Pursers are being trained on the new PES type.
I'll know in a couple of days when the first A319 arrives when the cabin crew pairings are issued for October.
That's all for now

The A319's were ordered for domestic and transborder flights naturally.
I will know more of their schedule when the cabin crew pairings for the month of October and November have been posted. One A319 arrives sometime in October, then two more in November.

Yep as i posted in earlier thread this is it's arrival times and locations on the Sept 19 are first in YQX@21:35, then YYZ @ 23:35 as flt#981, arriving from TLS.
You'll also have a chance to see it in YMX, SXF, CDG, DUB, MAN, GLA, SNN, AMS, YHZ, and of course YYZ throughout the last two weeks of Sept, and until Oct 8 when i believe is it's inaugral flight to India.
If your spotting in these locations let me know and i can post it's ETA there. I have it's schedule til at least the end of Sept.
