No 777s For Garuda Indonesia?

Sun Aug 12, 2001 5:18 pm

Acoording to justplanes.com GA have finalised a deal with Boeing to get 18 737ng's which include the 700 and 800 versions, earlier Boeing had offered the 737s to GA in exchange of the 777s they had ordered, does that mean the 777s wont be in Garuda's fleet, what type will replace their DC-10 and 747-200 aircraft Confused

RE: Yes! 6 777s For Garuda Indonesia

Mon Aug 13, 2001 12:44 am

Interesting news here...

Earlier it was reported that GA will be exchanging the 772ERs with 737NGs, but the latest FI (not sure what edition) reports that GA will get the 6 772ERs earlier ordered. The 737NG will be leased through special arrangements with Boeing. The 772ERs is important as they will eventually replaced GA ageing 742 fleet.

Meanwhile, GA has recently launched new domestic carrier, Citilink, with 2 ex-GA Fokker F-28s.

A good question!! The Boeing website still lists Garuda as having 6 777-200ER on order. I also think that they really need to get the 777s to replace the 742s and DC-10s. I hope that they get those soon. The777Man

It was posted on the orders site that the 18 737NGs will be leased, and that they are still going to receive the 777-200ERs ordered several years ago.
