Citybird had 3 MD11s, 2 were flown for Sabena on select routes before Sabena terminated that contract (it was a strange and costly arrangement for Sabena) and one flew long haul charters for Citybird. At one time, in 1997 I think, Citybird flew some scheduled routes out of Brussels, to EWR, LAX, OAK, MIA, MCO and MEX, these routes had MD11 service for a while, most were dropped and the 767 then flew the Florida services until those were dropped as well.
Citybird has gotten out of the long haul business and now flies of mix of 737 2nd generation and 737 new generation models on short/med haul charters. It returned the MD11s to Boeing (they were leased from McD Douglas and were white tails - 2 had GE engines and 1 had PW engines I beleive) and is also in the process of getting rid of its 767s (one is already in Ansett Australia colors and the other will go at the end of the summer schedule in October). It also had 2 A300 freighters which I just read will go to Qatar Airways.
Boeing is looking to sell or lease out these 3 MD11s and it will be interesting to see who takes them. There are just not that many airlines looking to add to their MD11 fleets (major operators like AA is already phasing them out and others like KLM are looking at replacements) so I guess we will see than converted to freighters. It was rumoured that Lufthansa was thinking about a few more MD11Fs - Boeing is likely to make a great deal on these aircraft, regardless of who takes them at the end.
