UA DC-10 across the atlantic?

Tue Dec 01, 1998 8:27 am

At Denver Intl. yesterday, I saw a United DC-10 that was about to leave for Washington Dulles and then go to London Heathrow. I thought that UA stopped all DC-10 flights across the Atlantic? What do you guys think about this?

I think the flight was going to LHR but the plane wasn't. United's flight 920 goes from Denver to IAD on a DC-10, but then switches to a 777 at IAD.

Dulles is 777 haven for UA. Flight 920 used to orginate as a 777 at DEN (I've been on that flight). It does change to a 777 for the flight to LHR

Thai is correct. United does not fly any DC-10's at all across the Atlantic. Flight 920 from IAD to LHR is a 777, it used to be a 747-100 (I remember that very well because I've been on that flight four years ago) until they got their first 777. Westbound flight UA921 was the very first route flown on a 777. You should know that, across the Atlantic, United flies only 767's and 777's.
Have a good time if you are going to fly the friendly skies soon.
