USAirways Pulls The Final Final Plug On PSA

Wed Aug 15, 2001 11:22 pm

I just read that USAirways is closing the San Diego Reservation office. Over 500 employees will be eliminated. The article says that the employees will be offered positions in other areas of the system. Now with the elimination of the MD-80's by the end of next year, any trace of PSA will cease to exits. Pity...

Pity nothing. It's about reducing costs.

Everybody bitches that US has high costs. Now they whine when they do things to reduce said costs.

The name still flys, sort of. PSA Airlines dba USAirways Express. Every vestige of the original PSA has been long gone.

PSA was hardly a "high cost carrier." USAir, sorry is it US Airways, or Allegheny or All America, whatever they call themselves this year, cannot blame their high cost structure on PSA, a once terrific airline.

I believe the employees are being offered other positions at alternate locations...
