Sad Days In Aviation History/future?

Sat Aug 18, 2001 5:58 am

I was wondering which happenings in the aviation history /future that you feel sad or will feel sad about?

A few of mine are:

- last Premiair Dc10 flight.
- When NW gets their first A330 (a boring plane that can'r replace a mighty DC10)
- lasts Dc 9- 10 and 20 flights
-when airlines began "throw" more pax in and hospitallity and service out

Offcourse there are more events, but that was some of them. Hope you agree.

Sad days?

-When Frank Lorenzo was allowed to run Eastern.

-When Frank Lorenzo was allowed to run Continental

-When Frank Lorenzo wasn't thrown into jail for pillaging the livelyhoods of tens of thousands of Americans just to get filthy rich.

The day that I will feel sad about, is the day the A380 takes off. I do not like the idea of a huge jetliner like that taking to the skies!  Sad

May 25, 1979 - American flight 191, Chicago O'Hare. This is, I believe, still the worst air disaster in US history.

A bad day all around:

A bad day for American Airlines
A bad day for McDonnell-Douglas and the DC-10: it was this accident and the subsequent FAA-mandated grounding that led to the 10's undeserved reputation as an unsafe airliner.
And of course, a terrible day for the passengers and their families.

I was nine years old when this accident happened. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

When the Boeing 727 dies. When the Service dies. When Delta gets too much International. When 767 Planes are getting "TOO OLD". That would be the saddest day for me.
Thanks and Gig Em!

December 4th, 1991, New York Kennedy Airport. This was the day that Pan Am, the world's great airline, after so many years, finally called it quits and shut its doors. No longer would the famous blue globe be seen around the world. It was definitely sad to see a pioneer of so many aspects go down so sadly that day.
