Virgin are trying to block bmi's proposed services as bmi objected to the Virgin service!

I think they are still waiting for UK government approval, but I am 99% certain that the bmi flights will be transferred over to LHR as soon as LHR is opened up as they have no feeder traffic at LGW as they have at MAN and LHR.

well, somehow i doubt that bmi is really interested in operating such flights from LGW. they´ve got absolutely no operations at LGW and would have not feed. there might enough O&D for these routes, but it would cost bmi a great deal to establish handling and maintenance operations for the first time and LGW.
but who knows, someone else could take care about that...

I would be suprised to see BMI operating long-haul out of LGW as they have no flights there currently, as Johnnybgoode stated. It would also be a huge concession to BA and Oneworld about the flight for BMI to operate l/h from LHR. Why bother setting up ops at LGW, just to move them to LHR when they can. Expensive.

Also, BMI don't have the a/c to be setting up lots of new routes yet. I know they have another couple of A330-243's on order, but they'll need to order some more soon, surely? Maybe we'll even see some A340s for long-haul heading east? I hope so.

Their l/h service is fantastic. I would reccommend it to anyone.

cheers, Phil.

I thought I had heard somewhere that BM said that they are looking into transatlantic flights from Edinburgh or Glasgow.
