CX888 YVR-JFK A320 Today?

Tue Aug 21, 2001 9:40 am

While checking to see if CX888 from YVR to JFK is operating on time tonight, I noticed that all flight tracking web sites that will show CX flights are showing it currently airborne, but operating as an A320. This flight is normally a 744. I know CX has been cancelling the YVR-JFK portion of their HKG-YVR-JFK daily run on and off due to ongoing internal problems, but how would they be operating an A320 tonight? They don't own any, and certainly wouldn't have flown one from HKG to YVR even if they did!

I think they chartered a Skyservice A320 to do the extended service to JFK.

ONLY the leg from YVR to JFK operated by SkyService SSV. SSV's A320 has 180Y-class only, no F or C-classes. You can barely stuff your self into the seats.

Cathay originally planned to fly it from YVR to YYZ since SSV is based in YYZ. Finally they cancelled this plan and flew direct from YVR to JFK.
