Old Paint Jobs Vs. New Paint Jobs

Tue Aug 21, 2001 1:24 pm

With many airlines getting new paint jobs, I've thought about the contrast between the old and the new...

Delta-
I am very gald they switched from the Old Ne to the New New. The New New and the Old Old are both very nice.

United-
I am very disappointed with the New Colours. They are way to dark. I liked the Old Colours much better.

USAir-
I also like these old colous better than the new, however, both are very classy, the old is a bit
too much like AAL.

What do you think????

WOAH, you look new here!!! Welcome to A.net!!!  Big thumbs up

SW should have stayed with the old livery (sp). The new one is just ugly with the deep blue on the rusty brown.
I don't know, so this is my signature.

I loved the new old scheme of DL. atleast they had a cheatline. This new one looks boring and bland.

TWA's classic is nice due to the double globe logo they had behind TWA. This new one looks too complicated and dizzy to look at and the Ichan scheme they had only looked decent on the L-1011.

PAN AM scheme was bland and there was way too much white space on the 747s when they went for the billboard scheme. If they had actually lived to get an A380 in the billboard scheme the the empty space would stick out like a sore tumb even more.

I love Virgin's new colors better than the old.

Yes, Southwest DEFINATLY should've stuck with the old ones. United's new colors are way better than the old ones in my opinion. The old ones were....too white.  Smile

I have to say I like the new ATA paint scheme much better then the old one. The new one is much more professional looking.

'Deltaflot' is definately growing on me....a freshly painted 757 modelled it up close for me at PBI the other day. Very nice.

US Airways is sweet....the USAir stripes-and-steel scheme only looked good on DC-9s. It made the 737 look like a beer can.

Actually I'm a little dissapointed with jetBlue (yawn) and VERY dissapointed with 'Canyon Blue' on Southwest.

If Pan Am had lived, my prediction is they would have dumped the billboard scheme with new Airbus orders in the late 90s. I think they would have returned to aluminum skin and the PAA flying wing logo....retro is hip these days and no one could have gotten more retro than Pan Am. Or they would have ended up with some ultra hip, Euro styled livery like bmi's new colors.
