Horizon Air Fleet Plans

Thu Jun 24, 1999 4:27 am

What exactly are Horizon's future fleet plans. I know that they have ordered both the DHC-8-Q400, and the CRJ-700. 25each? Besides replacing the F28s, what else is planned for these aircraft?

Horizon Air will use the CRJ-700 for routes from Seattle to Fresno, Portland, Vancouver and routes from Boise to Los Angeles, San Jose and Sacramento.
The Dash-8 will be mostly used for small short routes like Seattle-Yakima or Seattle-Victoria and the Q400 could be used for routes like Seattle to Eugene.
I am just glad to see the fokker aircraft go. They don't fit in Horizon Air's fleet.

I am thinking Horizon will really expand it's routes when they get there new aircraft. They just started flying to Los Angeles and could expand a hub there since Alaska Airlines is expanding there also. Also they could expand more at there main hub in Seattle too.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air by the year 2003 will be have one of the best fleet in the U.S. right now Alaska Airlines has the youngest fleet than any other airline in the U.S

Is Horizon planning to replace all of its Dash-8s with new Q400's? I know they've recently added several brand new Q200's, are these already on the way out? Thanks.

I read somewhere that they will be replacing 12 older Dash 8 with the Dash8-400 model. I can't remember where. Does anyone know how many Dash8 they operate now?
