Air Canada 747 Crash Picture

Thu Aug 23, 2001 1:29 pm

I was surfing the net when I came across this shocking picture. It's an Air Canada boeing 747-200, with the back of the plane breaking up and falling off upon landing! Does anyone know when this happened, why, and if anyone was hurt. I hope nobody was on board because it seems that if anyone was sitting in the back of the aircraft, they would certainly have been severely injured.

The picture can be found at http://collegehumor.com/pictures/view-image?image=hardlandingpriceless.jpg

What do you all think, its a pretty amazing shot, I am surprised I have never seen it before.

...look at the name of the site in which it's posted. That never happened of course. Check aviation-safety.net if still in doubt.

I would tend to agree with AM744. I went to
aviation-safety.net and they don't have any record of this incident. I'm pretty sure this is a fake.

AC has never lost a 747. The pic you see is a hybrid of AC 747 and another one- AF, if I'm correct.

I read somewhere that this is a fake ( I don't remember where, sorry). They used a picture (aft fuselage) out of a movie of a bomb test with 200 gr semtex in a pressurized 747.
Sabena ... Never to be forgotten (12 years already , what a shame !! )

This is not even a Air Canada 747. Its the AF 747 they blew up in the UK to test the strength of cargo pallets if a bomb blew up.

I wish that photo would go away.

Thanks for clearing that up, I had my doubts as to the authenticity of the photo when I first saw it. But since the photo looked pretty real, I wasn't sure. The first thing that struck me was that if it was a real incident, I would have almost surely have heard about it before.

I think Air Canada should sue them for this. That is if Air Canada did not give them permission for doing that.

No offense, but wow, you're pretty dumb considering you enjoy aviation. Anyone would know right away that this photo is a fake.
