*** Dalavia Orders Six Tupolev Tu-214s
[22 Aug 2001] Financial Lease Company /FLC/ has inked a lease contract with Khabarovsk-based Dalavia Airlines for six more Tupolev Tu-214 aircraft, DG Eugeny Zaritsky reported.
According to Zaritsky, Dalavia has successfully operated its first leased Tupolev Tu-214 for the last two months, proving its high reliability and efficiency. The first serially produced Tupolev Tu-214, delivered to Dalavia in May under the previous contract with FLC, was introduced into service effective from June 4 on Moscow-Khabarovsk route. The aircraft demonstrated a reprimand-free performance and supported a nearly 90 percent payload.
Dalavia`s successful experience with its first Tupolev Tu-214 example induced the airline to order six more aircraft. FLC and Dalavia ultimately aim to completely refurbish Dalavia`s ageing long-range fleet.
In addition to this order (leasing) by Dalavia, I have heard some well-grounded rumours that Sibir and KrasAir are in negotiations with KAPO (Kazan) at the moment for the Tu-214 as well.
