Concorde Getting Closer To Pax Service?

Thu Aug 23, 2001 8:04 pm

It seems that with the news earlier this week from the regulatory authorities, Concorde is geting much closer to passenger service.

Yesterday British Airways flew one of thier fleet to Shannon and back for flight crew training.

Air France will today undertake Taxi trail on their first fully modified aircraft with flight tests planned, as I understand it, on Friday and Monday. Has anyone else heard anything further about this?

AF Concorde FB will have a subsonic test flight friday 24/8, and a full supersonic test monday 27/8. This will fully test the tank-liner mod.

GDB,
do you know if the subsnonic test flt will land in CDG, or if AF will use this flt to move the Concorde to another location (like Istres), to conduct the additional test flights?

I don't know for sure, I got the info at a briefing for BA Concorde staff today. No reason why CDG couldn't be used, FB has been fully modified. Maybe to avoid upsetting the people of Gonesse?
But AF are going to operate them out of CDG soon anyway, and the manager of the hotel that was demolished by F-BTSC has stated that she has no problem with Concorde flying.

I am very happy to see Concorde flying again. And I hope there will be no cloud in CDG tomorrow.
The reason for my question is that after the technical test flight, AF will have to conduct a lot of flt to retrain the crews. And it is easier ad cheaper in a smaller airport than CDG.

According to the most faithfull newspaper in Barcelona today, CoAw (Certificate of Airworthiness) will be issued simultaneously by both British and French Authorities within two weeks time. And pax flights restarted by the end of September or beginning of October.

Hope its true.

Sorry for a misuse. Actually of not much importance, but, where I wrote faithfull (which otherwise should have been faithfuL with only one L) I should have written TRUSTFUL, meaning trustable, reliable, serious etc. Thought of it while driving back home. Faith in the news world is useless....
Sorry again.
