I'm not possitive on everything but I think that

Delta has the most destinations
Delta or Southwest have the most flights
American has the most planes

mmm...British Airways?? They are the worlds busiest International Airline.
In 1998 British Airways flew a total of 67.59 billion passenger miles. United Airlines was second with 47.6 billion miles and Lufthansa third with 43.4 billion miles (Source: Guinness world records 2001)

It all depends what you mean by "largest".

Hope it helps though

Unless something's changed the world's largest is Aeroflot.

AA is largest in the USA.

I also recall reading (back in 1986) that Aeroflot was the world's largest airline equipment-wise.

Aeroflot was the largest, but then United became the largest. Now AA/TWA makes American Airlines the largest!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

N6801, you are absolutely right for 86. It was before USSR collapsed, and all the new republic seized the Aeroflot planes to built their national airlines.

USAirBWI, it depend the criteria you take.
If you consider All Cargo airlines (I do not count airlines carying cargo & pax on the same flt), Fedex is N°1 in 2 categories: Weight carried, and fleet size (more than 670 planes !!!
And, thanks to Fedex, MEM is the world busiest airport for cargo.

The largest of any business is usually measured by sales. This makes cargo, passengers, aircraft, short routes, long routes, etc. all convert to a common denominator -- money.

So, what's the largest airline in annual sales? Anyone have the answer?

BA in Europe..
Where I've been in Europe, there's hardly any American Airlines departures, but always a few BA departures.
And nearly no Aeroflot departures/arrivals.

With the overtake of TWA, American airlines is now the largest carrier in the world in terms of aircraft.

I think Fedex has more but they don't really count because 60% of their fleet are small prop planes and its a cargo carrier.

and Jaspike ? you might wanna look better for those AA planes in europe.

The normal measure for airline size is Revenue Passenger Miles (RPM). Therefore, the largest is American with TWA. United is second with Delta third. Followed by Northwest, British Airways, Continental, Lufthansa, Air France, USAirways, JAL, Southwest, Qantas, Singapore, Air Canada, KLM, Cathay Pacific and Iberia.
