Aircraft Ceilings

Sun Sep 02, 2001 4:42 am

Hey all,

Just a question to think about. How come boeing and airbus don't make ceilings like the L1011 - nice and high. It makes the aircraft look more majestic and roomy inside.

Any thoughts?

I think the L1011 had no centre overhead stowage so while making the cabin look big, this would have given passengers alot of discomfort because they would have to stow their luggage under their seats

From what I've noticed, the ceelings inside the Boeing narrow bodies, are much much lower than those in the Airbus narrow bodies. I've flown on the A319, A320, 727, 732, 733, 735, 738, and the 752. Even with the new interior in the 738, the ceeling felt and is much much lower than the airbus counterparts.

The 777 has a pretty high ceeling. I belive that it is around 11 feet high.
