Comments On Us Airlines

Mon Sep 03, 2001 8:47 am

im a student pilot traning to become a airline pilot and i want to fly for united but since its so old i was wondering how long it will stay in buisiness.

im also thinking of northwest or delta or any us airline that you guy think will be good for a while.

ive just read some storys on some retired pilots careers and some of them sound like a nightmare.

one guy had been through 7 airlines before he retired and he didnt get to retire on the queen of the fleet like most do.

comments

thanks in advance

sorry if this sounds wierd, it was kind of hard to word

RC Pilot - your comments and questions didn't sound wierd at all, after all if you don't ask you never find out, right? Anyway, I can only answer from one standpoint, that is from Delta. I know how my husband and I are treated by Delta(Delta considers the employee's family as part of the larger Delta family just like the employee him/herself). They treat us really good.

Yes, there have been quite a few guys that have bounced from one company to the other simply because their company is taken over by another or possibly they may have been furloughed at some point in their career and were temporarily working for someone else. One guy I know about for example- a flight engineer for National, got furloughed, flew for Aero Peru, Egypt Air, come back to National, got taken by Pan Am, and now works for Delta. That is 5 for him. Amazing isn't it?

Enjoy your chosen career, and may your flights have nothing but clear air ahead of you.

Just because United's 75 years young, doesn't mean they'll go out of business soon. Yes, the past year or so has been bumpy due to the now dead (thank god) US Airways merger and the resulting Summer of Hell, but United is coming back, since the merger died, employees are in a better mood & morale is higher. If things keep going the way they're going, United is poised to rise again

U N I T E D...Come fly our NEW friendly skies.

Just remember to be nice to all the people who ask to get a pic taken in the cockpit!!

Not to start anything but I hear the ramp employees over at UA complaining about contract negotiations all the time and it doesn't seem the morale is as high as everyone else's
