744F Question

Sun Jun 27, 1999 5:59 am

Why were the 744Fs designed with the series 200 upper deck? I don't mean to sound naive or stupid, but one would think you could fit more mail or cargo with the larger space up above, and there wouldn't be much deviation between the standard 744 and the 744F since they'd have the same upper deck.

I think its mostly, the small area, and how would someone carry that much cargo up and down the ladder?

You save weight by eliminating the structure and applying that weight savings to cargo loaded on the main deck.
