SVO

Tue Sep 04, 2001 2:26 am

I am flying to SVO in December. I have some questions. Don't they strip search you sometimes?? Also is it true that you shouldn't speak English so you don't get robbed. Also what good spotting places are there?? Thanks!

yes, those things are true...they strip search you if you speak english, then rob you. sometimes, they steal your clothing so that you have to walk around naked. you should cancel your tickets right now! you won't be able to handle it.

I'd like to add that if you are a foreigner you are getting shot by Russian Mafia wearing kossack clothes right after you get out of the aircraft. The passport control officers have a bottle of vodka near to them. If he drinks a bit when he checks your passport it means you are going to be strip searched. Red Air Force is right cancel your tickets. Oh ya, take a shotgun with you! Hungry bears are all around the airport  Big thumbs up

You might want to have a word with the Captain on your flight about 1 hr before you arrive, and warn him about the pot-holes on the runway from previously crashed Airliners/nuclear-bombers/space-junk.

As soon as you crash, adopt the brace position so all of the debris and other passengers can go flying over your head. Find the nearest vodka bottle (look in the cockpit), raise it to your mouth, and drink normally. Please collect your own luggage before attempting to loot from others.

Aircraft usually have two emergency exits, one at the front and one at the rear of a broken fuselage. Follow the aisle until you discover a large bear devouring one of your fellow passengers. Take a moment to plan an escape route as soon as you are seated.

In the event of crashing on water or a nuclear powerpant waste run-off pond, the lifejacket under your seat will have been stolen by a previous passenger. Use your swiss-army-knife to cut a hole in the side of the plane.

Your seatbelt is fastened, adjusted, and released like any normal aircraft. Please purchase your seatbelt from a member of the cabin crew before a crash-landing is attempted.

Passengers seated in exit rows must place their cows and goats on the overhead luggage shelf so they will not obstruct the captain's parachute-jump to safety.

During takeoff and landing, make sure your tray-table is securely stowed, using the piece of bubble gum found on your seat.

Enjoy your flight.

Sorry... It's just that people have a very strange idea about what goes on 'over there'. Spotting is quite good because you get a steady stream of exotic airliners and a choice of at least 4 major airports serving the city so you will never be bored.

I was photographing/spotting at all of them last week and would be happy to share some of my info with you. Took ages to find the best places, sun positions, runway directions etc. I did take GPS readings of everything but then proceeded to lose the damn thing... it was so useful!

Is it just SVO you will be going to? or will you have more time in the city for the others? Vnukovo is cool too.

Ben.

Airbus380:
Don't worry about the strip search and if they keep your clothes. Walking around Moscow naked is not bad at all. Russian women are beautiful and they love guys from America!
They'll take you in and keep you warm!  Smokin cool

It happens to me everytime I visit.
I am going back!

Take some photos of the IL-62s, TU-154s and the other great Russian/Soviet jets.
Make sure your camera has a strap. At least you'll still have a place to hang it.  Big grin
Bring back the Concorde
