New Aeromexico Flight To San Diego

Tue Sep 04, 2001 5:55 am

I just found out that Aeromexico started service to San Diego from Hermosillo with their regional carrier Aerolitoral.

This is what I know:

Hermosillo - San Diego
Flight 2184
10:15-12:45 Daily

San Diego - Hermosillo
Flight 2184
13:10-15:40 Daily

Effective Sept 1st.

It's supposed to make a stop somewhere but I don't know where.

When was this flight announced ??

Glad to see more International destinations from HMO.

Great news, It looks like AM is working on expanding the Hermosillo hub. If AeroLitoral would just have regional jets this airport would receive many more international service.

The new flight originates at Ciudad Obregon, and continues on to Hermosillo and Mexicali before arriving in San Diego.

This flight was officially announced just a few days ago, but strangely, it has been on the OAG schedules since the beggining of August. I have yet to see the aircraft at SAN yet.

Is this flight arriving and departing from the commuter terminal in SAN? I'm wondering because I'm not sure whether there are customs facilities there. Hope the San Diego - Mexicali-Hermosillo service is a success.

Incidentally, I noticed that Sun Country seems to be serving San Diego daily now. Can anyone confirm? Cheers all.

Aerolitoral/AeroMexico flight to SAN using the SAAB 340 Turboprop:

AM2184 CEN-HMO 8:20-9:00 139 miles
AM2184 HMO-MXL 10:15-11:45 350 miles
AM2184 MXL-SAN 12:05-12:45 98 miles

AM2185 SAN-MXL 13:10-13:50 98 miles
AM2185 MXL-HMO 14:10-15:40 350 miles
AM2185 HMO-CEN 16:10-16:50 139 miles

Aerolitoral really needs to start thinking on the Regional Jets. I really hate those Metro Merlin III's. But we have to remember that AeroMexico had a big problem choosing Aerolitoral's fleet. Regionals were a choice, but Mr. De Prevoisan (AeroMexico's CEO) made some strange moves and AeroMexico finally bought the current fleet paying extra money for them and Mr. De Prevoisan got some big bucks from this deal.
