Any Official News About Saudia´s Damaged 743?

Tue Sep 04, 2001 6:29 pm

10 days after a Saudia B747-368 was driven into a ditch at Kuala Lumpur and severely damaged there´s still no official statement whether the aircraft will be an insurance write-off or not.
Or have I overseen something?

I think most likely it will be written off. The damgage is that bad, it is not worthwhile to reapair it.

The word from Saudi management - and my insurance broker in London - is that it's a constructive total loss. They should be able to recover quite a bit of value from the parts - including engines - though.
