Don't look for any new AA c/s...The current one is a classic, and they would not be transitioning TWA aircraft to it if there were a change in the wind.

How about never?
Is never good for you?

No reason to change it. They've said publicly that it won't be changed anytime in the forseeable future.

It's a classic. As new today as in 1970. Much like Alitalia (ok, don't flame me...).

Where did you hear rumor of this WN700?
I suppose with the merger of TWA it would be a good time to introduce something new.
Hope not though, I really like the old scheme. I actually admire them for keeping their identity intact all this time. I wish Delta had never changed either. I miss the widgets all over their aircraft  Sad

I'm a pilot, & away from home a lot. I hear lots of rumors.

Anyways, I'm not saying its bad, but just that, hell, even we changed our colors to the canyon blue earlier this year. Never thought I'd live to see that or the internation routes we may be getting. Peace

American's Classy and Classic Color Scheme has withstood the test of time. Does Campbell Soup change their logo? American doesn't need or want to change their image, and they have figured out that there are better ways to spend money that frittering around changing logos, color schemes, redoing gate areas, etc, etc., unlike that idiot that runs Delta.

This is a marketing excercise. Branding... The results keep coming in year after year after year... why chaange the logo when it is the second most identifiaable logo world wide, behind Coca Cola. Things go better with AA. It takes years and money to have such an identifiable braand.

The comemorative retro paint schemes have been successful, so maybe more in the future? I do not know? Astrojets are more fun.

Plus think of the savings on paint? Weight and product cost. Nothing beats polished aluminum for easy maintenance. The whole fleet is basically unformed too, adding strength and consistency to the brand.

When Eastern Airlines (rest in peace) changed to the their "hockey stick" on "silver" (great silver fleet theme), they consulted with AA.

When the AA aircraft are assembled at the factory the manufacturer use "matched skins" to give the smooth continuous aluminum appearance. EA's "9's" always look terrible as with some (L1011's) even when fresh from a C check, because the skins where not matched under the original paint job.

Now what about the A300's in the fleet... another day?

Hey there SWA TPA

Canada, maybe. Mexico, probably. But what I have heard (and I must stress that it is rumors at this point, well place rumors to be sure, but rumors nonetheless), is that we want to open up a BDL-LGW service. And for this there is serious talk of purchasing or leasing sevreal 772s (what with commonality benifits relating to the 7H4) for that end. The entire theme of SWAL being, "we still like to save you money and have fun, but now we are moving up to the next level as a real international contender", or some such thing.
But yes, it is what I've been hearing form the marketing weenies, that we will probably be going overseas in the next 18-30 months, even if we have to start with 7H4s. Hope that helped. Peace

Hi:

I think that American Airlines doesn't need a new look, because their colors is a classic and I think that represent the "American Spirit". I think that American won't change the color scheme because the new livery of TWA is in the American Colors and AA is very happy with the color scheme because is the symbol of the company.

Why do some people have this thing about AA changing their livery? Just what's wrong with it?

It hasn't changed, except for the logo, for a half-century (maybe longer). It's recognized around the world. It works. Why change?

Driver,

Do we need to meet you in the lounge before your next trip and hand you a cup to go into?

No international by next summer. No 772's. No LGW. Haven't even heard those rumors, even from the "marketing weenies" (your phrase, not mine).

Besides--if you really fly for Southwest, you've seen the facility in BDL. We barely have enough seating for a good load on a -700!

"Driver,

I'm sorry, but that just made my day. I don't often check in online, I do say I probably laughed at that line for a good 3-4 mins before settling down. I don't mean anything by that, BTW, it was just really funny.
In all seriousness though, I'm just telling y'all what I heard from people on the corporate end. At first I thought it was horse$hit too, but the fact that I've heard it from more than 2 or 3 realtively unconnected people tells me there may be something too all that. If it makes you feel any better, my wife says "yeah that about sums it up" when she saw your post.
As far as BDL goes, it is indeed a small airport, but from I've heard abou that, they at least gearing up for major terminal expansion anyways. Cheers

Yes, the current livery is classic and timeless, but some aspects of do look dated. AA is one of the few airlines that still has cheat lines in their livery. Maybe they need to thin the cheat lines a touch, and maybe change the font for the American titles. Keep the bare metal and the classic AA eagle logo, just change the cheatlines and titles. Or perhaps one of our photoshop masters could create some new livery ideas that still incorporate the aspects of the classic livery with some updates. My thought is leave the top bare metal, but perhaps make the belly blue with a thin version of the current cheatline separating the blue and the bare metal. Or maybe use a silver color (ala Virgin Atlantic) instead the bare metal.
