Planes In Movies

Fri Sep 07, 2001 6:07 am

I see movies sometimes and they piss me off because the planes are not always not messed up. For example, in Mimic 2, Buzzy is seen boarding a 747-467ER. However, when she goes to use the lavoratory in flight, you will notice as she passes the galley, that the Coffee machines are made by Bunn-O-Matic and not Mr. Coffee. Everyone knows that the 74467ER has Mr Coffee machines, whereas Quantas, which was the sole launch customer of the 747-438ERb made it a point to request that its java be made on Bunn-O-Matic machines. So whats the deal? The moviemakers are expecting us not to see the obvious differences between the 747-467ER and the 747-438ERb? We expect realistic portrayals of airplanes in movies, not farcical and inaccurate depictions of them. IT is amazing that anyone even went to see this movie, based on blatant inaccuracies.

Well I don't know what coffee machine you are getting yours from, or what's been put in it!? What exactly is a B747-467ER or a B747-438ERB? and it's spelt QANTAS - almost as annoying as our American friends continually refering to British Airways as British Air.

Anyway rant over.

Yes it is very annoying when continuity is lacking between types in movies. I have seldom seen a movie where exteriors and interiors are consistent, it sure annoys the hell out of me.

I mean, Gawd, how horrible is sucha thing? Some people wonder why I get my panties in such a twist over inaccurate potrayals of airplanes in movies, but surely it is a great crime against humanity! Genocide and Bigotry PALE in comparison to unrealistic airplanes in movies. What do these directors and writers think they are doing when they make a movie? A work of fiction? Sheesh! Thank god for REALISTIC movies like Batman Returns, Hot Shots, and The Lion King!

UA707-238B-ERx, I realize you posted this to be funny. But try to actually be funny next time! Okay? You are obviously another member posting this with a fake name to be funny, or this wouldn't be something you post 20 minutes after joining. If it were funny & not a waste of board space I wouldn't bitch & moan.... Geeeeez. Insane

Well...
All's I know is that in the CLASSIC straight-to-video film Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow, the plane showed leaving had underwing engines, and the plane shown landing was a 727. Now that's ridiculous. Even for Police Academy.

Usually people in movies board 727s and are showed taking off in a 2-4-2 configurated plane...strange isn't it?

or usually when they are flying from London to Los Angeles, they board 737s...
