AA B727's To Be Gone By End Of 2002

Sat Sep 08, 2001 3:30 am

American airlines has announced that the 3rd qrts results will be worst then analysts expected, and that it was speeding up the retirement programme of it's B727's with 3 more due to leave the fleet in the 1st Qrt of 2002, instead of 2003. AA announced that they are on course to retire all of it's B727's by the end of 2002 in an effort to combat the downturn in the economy, and rising fuel prices.

Hi!

Yes, I was in YYZ, CLT and PHL and at least in YYZ and PHL I could see some AA 727 still flying. But I also saw at YYZ a Northwest 727, at CLT there was a United 727 too and even in PHL there was a Delta 727 too. I'm sure next time I visit USA not many 727 will be left no?

All good things have to end sometime. Hope that American salutes the 727 in an appropriate fashion.

Does AA still fly 27's into ORD? I haven't seen any, unlike MIA-where they're plentiful. BTW,I was lucky enough to fly on 2 UA 27's this week . UA1777 ORD-LAS and UA438 ORD-ROC. I borrowed the safety card because I probably won't get to fly one again  Sad . United is also fast-tracking the 27 out of the fleet by 2003.
