What Airline Was This At AUS Today?

Sat Sep 08, 2001 10:15 am

I was near the old Mueller Airport today and I saw a 727 with winglets. It was on final for 17R. It had a plain blue tail similar to the CO blue. What airline was this? I also saw a Fed-Ex DC-10-30 on approach right after it. It was sweet. Just thought that I would say that.

My guess is that it was a chartered American Trans Air in the new livery and winglets. Just a guess.
Actually flown: EMB-120 EMB-145 B717 B737 B757 B767

Could also have been ExpressOne operating for Emery.

Sounds like it could have been a Sunworld 727-200.

Sunworld does charter operations with a fleet of 2 or 3 727-200's.

It is possibly this but I thought that it was a lighter blue. Why would it be at AUS though? But, I am still doubtful that it is ExpressOne. The back tail and the rudder were clearly seen as separate. It had a thin white line where the rudder is hinged.

Could it have been Champion Air, I saw them there a few times this summer, but I am not sure if it was them. I don't know if they had winglets either...

It is not Champion Air, I saw them at AUS also during the summer. AUS also got Miami Air 727s during the summer. It was odd.
