Any Plans To...

Does Continental plan to replace this plane by next summer, or cut the route all together. Im flying from NY to Honolulu next summer, and I dont care if its a DC-10 or not, Im just curious, and I want to get there A.S.A.P.

Yes, this fall Continental will replace the DC-10 with a Boeing 767-400ER on the route. Houston and Los Angeles to Hawaii will soon follow in 2002, and eventually Guam will see 767s in place of their -10s. Continental will be the only airline to fly their premium international first class and have PTVs in economy to Hawaii from the mainland. It'll be my fourteenth time visiting the Hawaiian islands when I take this flight over the Holidays and it will also be my first time flying to the Hawaiian Islands on something that IS NOT a DC-10. Although I am anxiously looking forward to this trip as it will be different from my previous flights to the fiftieth state, the thought of a whole era of TriJet travel being laid to waste just reminds me how quickly time actually flies(no pun intended).
