Are Emirates Seats Generally Narrower And Smaller?

Sat Sep 08, 2001 11:38 pm

I was just looking at the seat plans at emirates.com. Even their business class on the 330 is 2-3-2. Most airlines have it as 2-2-2. And if you look at the photo, the seat pitch doesn't look that great.

Is this why they can provide such cheap flights? But then, isn't this inconsistent with their high levels of service?

You are correct.
The Emirates business class is sub-standard across the board.
On 777's, economy class is 10 across (3-4-3), the result being VERY narrow aisles (2 people can't pass).
I've never flown their A330, but I have been told the pitch on board is terrible.

I think Emirates management hopes passengers will be too occupied looking at their video screens to notice the cramped space. Pity- great food and entertainment.

I think that Emirates are somehat overrated, while Emirates is a great airline, it's not the best especially in the premium cabins (F&C). The airline definately needs to upgrade their premium cabins, they're falling behind, but supposedly their service is great so that makes up for it!

I agree with everyone here. I flew C class last month on thier 332's and 772's and the seat pitch is much lower than other airlines. The width though was ok, probably on the narrower side though. This is too bad since they have it pretty much set in every other way, great food, entertainment, service, and aircraft.

The awards are bought for PR purposes... probably with DNATA money!

I agree that the J and Y class prods. are below standard in terms of seating, both width and pitch. Although the F class seats on the A330/B777 have decent pitch but are not flat beds.

Actually when the person in front of you does a full recline in J class on the A330 your legs get blocked due to the limited pitch (talking from personal experience last week!)

In all other respects ie. food, entertainment, cabin crew, on the ground facilities etc. they beat others hands down.

A new premium product is on the way according to Maurice.

Given that Business class in both 330 and 777 are 2-3-2, are the seats actually narrower in the airbus?

I think they are slightly, not much but it has to do with the shape. 777 is square while the 330 is sort of oval!!

THis is the only downside to Emirates, shame but it is true that peopel are occuiped by the PTV's, the service and food. I always prefer to sit in the asile if I don't get a window seat. It's annoying on the 777 window though if you want to get out having to cross over 2 people. The A330 is good, with 2-4-2 in Y Class. Only have to get over one person.
Just a question, may seem wierd but in the A330, the cabin seems to be more brighter than the 777. Anyone notice this?

RE: Economy Class

Sun Sep 09, 2001 6:54 pm

Just remember, although Emirates has a 10 abreast layout in Economy, it also has 34" seat pitch.

Does anyone know the seat width of Economy Class in a B777 at 10 abreast? At 9 abreast, Economy Class in a B777 is the widest in the world, IIRC (the 146 may be the closest challenger).

Cheers,

Justin
