Ansett And Qantas Merger

This may be premature however I wonder how it will work with Ansett's terminal if QF take over AN.

Although I am not fond of a QF take over of AN outright, but if it protect jobs and passengers then it may be the better option if no other airline or Australian government want to invest in Ansett .

Probably the same way it worked when Qantas took over Australian. They
just moved in.

QF wouldn't be able to use all of it, they'd cut most of AN's flights off and move as much into their terminals if they took full control thus leaving little use for the AN terminals. Though they could keep AN as a seperate brand still and use their termianls etc.

Am I Safe?

I have a flight booked on the 25th sept and 2nd oct are theses safe if AN went bust before then????? :S

Absoutely no chance Ansett will be flying on the 25th
Sept, If you have already paid for your ticket, you
had better get a refund TOMORROW before 5.00PM
(edst) when dixon will make a statement as to wether
QF will buy into AN, I believe there is a 95% chance
tomorrow is Ansetts last day.

well i see Melbournes AN terminal becoming a new concourese of the international terminal, and the concourse B of Ansetts to become Virgins new base. It will be interesting to see how it will work, but having 2 seperate terminals on either side of the international termianl will not work IMO. The future expansion of the international terminal is hemmed in, and lkoos very cramped on plans ive seen. Maybe a new tenancy agreement can be reached to solve the space problems.

Im sure that virgin, along with any other parts of the Ansett empire that they recieve, will love the space in the concourse B, giving it room to grow.

Does anyone think that Virgin will get the Kendell airline regional business, as feed to its new expanded operation. It will not be able to effectively compete without such a move.
