How Many Planes Have Hit The Pentagon?

Wed Sep 12, 2001 1:38 am

From Ananova:

Pentagon hit in third plane attack

An aircraft has crashed near the Pentagon in Washington.

The West Wing of the White House has been evacuated amid threats of terrorism.

There are no details of any casualties at this stage.

Paul Begala, a Democratic consultant, says he witnessed a explosion near the Pentagon shortly after two planes crashed into World Trade Centre.

"It was a huge fireball, a huge, orange fireball," Mr Begala said.

He said another witness told him a helicopter exploded.

"I saw the tail of a large airliner. ... It ploughed right into the Pentagon," said an Associated Press Radio reporter. "There is billowing black smoke."

The Pentagon is headquarters of the United States Department of Defence and the nerve centre for command and control.

It houses approximately 23,000 military and civilian employees and about 3,000 non-defence support personnel.

All airports across the US have been shut down.

So, I guess the count is:
One helicopter?
One AA 737?
One AA 757?

Please correct me.

The only news that has been confirmed is that one aircraft, an American Airlines 757 Flight 77, IAD-LAX crashed into the Pentagon.

Further, the picture of the damage seems to confirm that there was only one aircraft involved.
