Was The Fourth Plane Shot Down?

Has anyone confirmed this theory or wouldn't they admit it if they did so ?
It sounds quite plausible to me though.

At first some news stations had reported that it was shot down, but then later no one was really saying anything about it, as if they were trying to cover it up, and just say that it was a crash. But why would they crash the plane in a field?? That does not go with all of the other crashes that happened.

That's why I believe they shot it down.
They wanted to prevent more serious damage.

An aviation expert (don't recall his name) on ABC News said that a pax on a cell phone on the a/c that crashed near Pittsburgh had reported seeing smoke on or around one of the wings just before the crash. This is only hearsay, but the expert believed that the evidence of smoke might be related to the fact that the plane had been shot down.

I find it hard to believe. There were eyewitnesses on the ground who were interviewed. Don't you think one of them would have seen a missile heading for the a/c, or at least a military a/c near the commercial one?

My theory is that the flight crew somehow overpowered the hijackers and in the process brought the plane down.

Witnesses saw the plane crash and none reported seeing smoke pouring out of the aircraft as it crashed.

I agree totally with Rotation18L... The crew attempted to overpower the terrorists and just lost it.

I think the theory of a military a/c bringing this plane down is a little too hyped.
I agree too with rotation18L that the crew brought the plane down after overpowering the terrorists so as to save more lives - afterall; a commercial pilot would rather ditch the plane in open space (and have some casualties) rather than risk more lives by taking the plane down in a city - am I way off track here ???

I have heard the possiblities that the crew was able to retake the plane, but there has been an eye witness that has said he saw the plane fly over head, followed by two fighter jets. I believe it was the latter. It was a measure that needed to be taken.

If it was shot down, I doubt the government would deny it. Everyone should realize that it was the correct and only thing to do.

Three options:

1. UAL93 accidently did not reach its target, and accidently did crash over low populated surface (accidently because the other three precisely crashed into their targets, unfortunately).

2. UAL93 was shot down by US military forces in order to prevent another crash into a federal or military facility or building.

3. Something else happened on baord UAL93, e.g. the crew tried to get control again. Very vague, I think.

Official sources have denied that US AirForce shot down the a/c. I believe that the crew managed to overpower the hijackers and crash the plane far from highly populated areas.
But this raises new questions. There must have been a reason that they crashed and didn't return to an airport. The reasons I can see are the following:
1. The hijackers lost control over the a/c.
2. The plane was damaged in some way, and wasn't able to fly.
3. The hijackers wheren't defeated and the pilot wanted to get the plane on the ground as soon as possible.
None of these options seems to fit perfect, and there might be more options that I haven't thougt of.

I heard 3 passengers tried to overpower and succeeded on taking the plane back from the terrorists, after they took hold of the plane, none of them knew how to fly it and they tried to climb because they were only about 2000 feet high but they climbed too steeply and the plane just stalled and turned left diving into the fields..... that's what I heard but I'm not sure if it's true though.....

Wouldn't the USAF just come out and say they shot the plane down to avoid populated areas?

Why would the US military hide this information?

As far as the person on the cell phone seeing smoke, couldn't that be the crew dumping fuel?

Shoot down theory is not credible. The Air Force would own up to it if true, since everybody would understand under the circumstances. the CVR will tell us for sure.
I want to know if the crew on that plane knew about the prior hijacks--enough time had passed for them to know. Also: I read a newstory that said that F-15s were scrambled when ATC overheard the pilots keyed microphone on AA 11. Anybody else see that? If so, where were they for UA 175?
