Kudos to Boeing. I think it shows how far Boeing has come. You've got to admit, Boeing has been bad to crash victims in the past, but this shows that they aren't monsters and even though they're not directly responsible, they feel a lot of pain.

Well done Boeing!

Somehow, as the U.S.'s leading exporter...and one of the few companies that can actually affect our trade balance.....I expected more.

Here is the very short article:

Boeing and its Employees Contribute to Disaster Relief Efforts
CHICAGO, Sept. 14, 2001 - The Boeing Company and its employees have committed more than $5 million to the humanitarian efforts involved in the aftermath of Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the United States.

The employee leaders of the company's Employees Community Funds have voted to approve approximately $1 million to relief agencies. In addition, these employee-managed community funds have begun a campaign among Boeing's 199,000 employees that will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. Boeing's corporate contribution will be divided evenly between the Red Cross and the United Way September 11 Fund.

Publicity stunt or not, it's still $5 million, so we've got to thank them.

Regards.

you do have to look on their website to find out

Can you hear how silly you sound?
Why do they put it there in the first place? It wouldn´t be in the hope that some dumb journalist picks it up????

Most companies automatically send all statements on web-site to press - so dont telle it is not bragging

Many major companies, which had to do with this crash - most of them had their offices at the WTC - are also donating. CS First Boston, for example, announced already yesterday, that they will donate 1 Mio US$ plus what employees donate.

I find it great.

Publicity stunt??? It's just another large corporation making a donation.

In any case, the donation has been reported on radio for hours. I just saw no mention of it here so far and decided to post it.

Hey just yesterday someone was complaining about Airbus not having anything expressing condolences about the tragedy.

You're complaining about Boeing announcing it, but you'd probably be right there complaining if they never donated a penny too.

General Electric has donated $10 million.
Ford, Chrysler, and GM have all donated rescue vehicles.

There you go. Even more of the dirty, publicity seeking, corporate bastards.

Some peple have such a negative attitude! Not enough, bragging, c'mon. They give a reasonable amount. They can't just donate half of their worth, can they? Also, they're required to disclose all their spending to the investing public, hence the announcement.

You're right, KRP. Boeing should just sell off all of its assets to Airbus and donate the money. I don't know why we didn't think of this before.
